That seems like comparing apples and oranges. Plus, Animal Crossing allowed people to manipulate time whenever they wanted. It wasn't forced on everyone to play it day by day. I know I certainly didn't.
I didn't time travel in Animal Crossing and I didn't have an issue with the way that game played. I checked in every day and didn't have any issue with that at all. So it's very much a like-for-like comparison the way I see it. If I'm ok with doing that in Animal Crossing I have no right to complain about it in this game.
I'll also add that in Splatoon there's not some "day" limit but some modes are locked behind a certain amount of play time. Which did actually take me a good while to get to so it was effectively the same deal. And I though the same thing when I heard about that. That it was kinda crap of them to be locking gear and modes like that. Then I played the game and forgot about it. Them forcing me to consume the game at a slower pace, if anything, allows me to enjoy the game more.
...Except Animal Crossing is entirely different type of game where the goal is that there is no goal. You become immersed in the world and restrictions like that help with immersion. In Super Mario Maker the last thing the goal is is immersion. You're basically a god in this game so there's no reason for this restriction other than Daddy Nintendo telling me what I can and can't handle.
Hmm... Don't know what to think about that. Looks cool but it's rather 16-bit looking, clearly taking from the classic Mega Drive games than the Game Gear games.
Once a LuigiMan, now a Dreamy representation of the Goddess of Nature.

Oh my!... Sonic looks awesome!
After my little disappointment about the looks of Mega Man. I don't know how I expected Mega Man to look like in the game. Hm.. Probably more like Sonic looks there. ^^ Hard to explain.
But one question. Does anybody else imagine how nerds back in the 90s would have reacted to this? x)
@Retro_on_theGo
Not that I am aware of. Probably not. But if it's possible I expect Nintendo handles it like in some other games, where you get a penalty of some kind. Maybe.. But I think it won't work in the first place.

Well to play devil's advocate again, I don't think the restrictions in Animal Crossing add to the immersion of the game. When I have a tent for the first day that's not at all making the game more "realistic". Instead what it does is forces me to explore the town. It also gets me into the habit of playing the game a little bit every day.
With Mario Maker I don't think restrictions early on are a bad thing. If they encourage people to explore the tools rather than just spam enemies on every stage that's a good thing. If it gets people to come back every day and see what new levels are online that's also good. It's not the same game as Animal Crossing, but in terms of how I'd expect they'd want you to play it? It's very similar.

I wouldn't be surprised if this game gets patches that add things like support for new Amiibo. Maybe expanding Amiibo costumes to other styles of the game. Extra power ups, enemies and so on.

I was looking at that MiiVerse community just for the media. Level sharing etc. There was one level where you could put wings on blocks. Not question blocks but just standard blocks. I didn't even think something like that would be possible!
@skywake I think it might've just been dlc. But yeah, it would be nice if we got more content throught updates or something. I want the Frog and Penguin Suits in! @NintyMan Well that's a nice touch. I wonder how he'll react to Toad...or himself...or another member of his species...I don't know.

Wow. Awesome Effects!
Is it me or is the bird noise at 1:00 from Wario Ware?
Oh and totally for got about it.. That creepy "help me!" at the beginning? :3
@NintendoFan64
If you couldn't handle Mario Paint Composer, you probably won't be able to handle it in Mario Maker. I imagine.
But I try to do very very simple things.. And that will be already a challenge for me. ^^
@NintyMan Well that's a rather nice little nod. Also, because of Ashley, I'm assuming that there isn't a Tingle amiibo, unless there's going to be a Wario Ware series of amiibos...please, no. I don't have an infinite source of money on my hands.
