Actually you yourself said you hope the NWC levels are included and that you are excited they are so you actually do understand on some level what you are confused about.

The NWC levels have a level of cultural significance now. So of course I think it's good that people have the ability to play them. But pointing to just the NWC levels kinda misses the point of what I was saying. I wasn't saying "they shouldn't include the NWC levels", I was saying "why does the number of levels matter". I would have been more than ok with just the NWC levels, I would have been more than ok if no levels were on the disk and there was an easy way to play the NWC levels online.

More content adds value to the package, it is pretty simple. Why do they add so many modes to smash outside of the core game? The news of Over 100 levels included generated excitement in more people than just me because it adds value to the package; and that is a ton of value added. Dozens of levels is not as good but still pretty cool.

Actually, this was the line of thinking that I was trying to get at from the first post. You're the first person to articulate it in the way I expected people to. How does "more levels included" add any value to a game built around an endless pit of user generated levels? I don't think it's like Smash Bros because the extra content in Smash Bros is fundamentally different to the main online mode. It's more like the pre-made songs and backgrounds included in Mario Paint. Was the game better to have it in there? Well yeah, probably. Would the game have been better if there was more? No, not really, that wasn't the point of the game. If those songs were not included and were instead shared online? It wouldn't have mattered at all.

If someone downloads a stage, are they allowed to edit it? I hope Nintendo makes it so they cannot and can only edit stages they created. That way, nobody can steal another person's work.

Also, don't know if anyone mentioned this but I think Mario Maker puts the nail in the coffin for any future 2D Mario games for a long time and they will probably focus on 3D games. I'm guessing New Super Mario Bros U could be the last game in the New Super Mario Bros series.

To me, I enjoyed New Super Mario Bros U more than Super Mario 3D World, and so did all of my friends because it feels more like a classic Mario game but Mario Maker is still much more exciting than just another New Super Mario game.

I believe you can edit stages you download, but you can't reupload it.

Still, I wouldn't at all be upset if we never get another "New SMB" again. Especially if Super Mario Maker exists on future Nintendo platforms both portable and not.

I have left a few comments on Nintendo's youtube asking them to reconsider putting the Koopalings in this.

Untitled

I still think it could be possible. From what I remember, adding the Koopalings in Smash Bros was a last minute decision, and I know Nintendo said they don't plan on releasing DLC for Mario Maker but I don't see why it wouldn't be a good idea financially if the game sells well, which it probably will. I am going stir crazy the closer this game gets to release date. Those spoiled brats deserve to be in the game. Untitled

Youtube? Really?

You really expect an answer when writing "stupid undeserving Wii Fit Trainer"!?

Personally, I don't need the Koopalings for Mario Maker. We need platforms, items and stuff for creating a level. Boss fights with Koopalings are very unspectacular.

I'm still waiting for enemies like Pokey, Spike, Banzai Bill, Fuzzy, Blargg, etc. Still a lot of possibilities left.

Unfortunately, the game is most likely finished at this point. Anything not in the game will have to be patched in, which I suppose is not entirely out of the question.

It would still be cool to have them as palette swaps for Jr. And Mario maker doesn't really have boss fights. Bowser seems almost like a regular enemy and you can make multiple clones of him. To add to what brewsky said about patches, I wonder if they might patch in or DLC slopes, star coins and check points. Its going to be a great game regardless but would be cool.

This won't kill 2D mario games. The tools shown so far are not even enough to recreate those games. The tools seem very good but they result in different kinds of mario levels than you would find in a regular mario game. You can't really do collectibles or hidden secrets in this game. There are so many things done in mario games that you won't be able to duplicate.

2D mario games are one of the best selling games Nintendo has. I don't see mario maker as a risk of devaluing past or future installments. Super Mario Maker is it's own thing.

I already have an awesome idea for a stage! Unfortunately, I can't move on because I have to see what tools I can work with firsthand. Shame, but I think it's gonna be epic!
Quick question: If I place any amiibo skin of my choice into a block or wherever while I'm creating my stage, save that stage, and then share the stage, will other players get the same amiibo skin... even without the player having the corresponding amiibo?

God first.

@VeeFlamesNL Yes any amiibo used in another stage will be unlocked for you or another player to use at anytime when creating a stage!

Haven't they confirmed that you can unlock Amiibo costumes through the 100 Mario challenge?
I thought I've heard something like that.

What do people think about the fact that you apparently have to unlock the different items over time? Or did I misunderstand that?

Bit weird. It looks like they're trying to keep it relevant for as long as possible.

Eh. People will learn the basics of making levels with the stuff they start out with (and still make fun stuff), and then make more impressive ones when they have better tools and a better understanding of it.
