What exactly do you mean by "pre-loading"? Since I'm in California and three hours behind most of the United States, would I still be able to download it by my time at 12am? I'm guessing pre-loading means I can download the game but it will not be available to play until 12am on the 11th. If that's the case, I think I might just digitally download it. It seems like a lot more stress.....

EDIT - disregard... I just say 99mushrooms 's post and if that's the case, I will digitally download it then.

Yeah you got it, download it ahead of time, be able to play it once midnight hits on launch, lol

What's even better is that retail download games release at midnight on the East Coast, meaning that you'll be playing it at 9 PM your time.

Cyber blp said there was but I'm not sure where he saw that at. The one video I saw about the timer just showed it being turned down from 500 and then in that metroid level the creator said it could not be increased past 500.

Wouldn't it be nice if the changing the time/date on the wii u trick could unlock it right now like you can apparently do to unlock content early? I know there is no way Nintendo would allow that to happen but I'm tempted to try anyway. It's driving me crazy knowing it is on my wii right now, downloaded, ready to play, and I can't open it.

I'm guessing it connects to the net real quick before allowing you to play. xp

I saw these levels earlier today and I was going to post the video for Metroid U just to show how great it is. This is the best level I've seen from Super Mario Maker so far. Period. It is amazing. I can't wait to play it.

The creator of the Metroid level said the time limit can't be changed, so... And in recent the official Japanese video from Nintendo the "up" button is still enabled when 500 is displayed, so you can clearly go above 500. The range I found while googling was that times between 10 and 999 seconds are supported, but I can't find an official source on that.

I thought the time limit was covered in one of the Treehouse Live sessions, but I can't find it now.

I found this level, a very classic Mario level. These are the levels I'm looking forward to. It's a bit on the easy side, but you get the idea.

This game went from "this looks pretty fun" to "I need to have it in my hands right now" in the span of a day.

@Pahvi: Agreed, but it's still cool to see that, despite the fact that they didn't include a forest theme, you can still turn a simple grassland level in something that resembles a forest level.

I'm going to tell you right now and put you out of your misery. It simply won't work. If it did, then everyone would be buying digitally to play the game now.

Basically, when your preloaded the game, you downloaded all the necessary files to play the game EXCEPT the file that makes the entire game boot on your Wii U. When the game releases (at midnight Eastern time on 9/11, in North America), Nintendo will release a small update that will install the final things necessary to make the game run.

Well, I went and reserved my copy of Super Mario Maker at my neighboring Gamestop. I won't be so bold as to say I preordered it because there's no preorder goodies that come along with it. It's merely a reservation.

Still, can't wait for this release date! This will be the first retail game I've gotten for my Wii U in a long LONG time.

I really enjoy this level. As with the 'Garden of Eatin' stage on the previous page, it does feel somewhat busy, but at the same time, it's quite nice to see someone really strive for a solid theme/aesthetic and work within those confines to see what they come up with. I'm a fan.

I'll probably end up getting this for myself for christmas. Too many games to play right now
