Sometime in November. I read somewhere on Nintendo's website that it's late November, but I can't find it now. I think they changed it.
Expect it on the 6th, 13th, 20th, and the 27th.
Yeah, for a long time, they had it listed as "end of November", but that has now been removed and it simply says "Available November 2014" on their official site. So my guess is they pushed the release date up earlier in the month, possibly so they can get it out of before Super Smash Bros? Who knows...
Either way, I suspect Nintendo will announce an actual date real soon here.
Really would love an amiibo, to give us Windwaker/to on link as racer with rolling King of red lions car.
Again, Amiibos are promised to not be used for unlocking things.
Where did they say this? So you don't think that the Bowser Jr. Amibo will unlock him as a character in Mario Kart 8? What if it unlocks, soon to be made available DLC, so as said content can still be purchased without the Amibo.
Super Smash Bros Wii U/3DS: Ice Climbers,
Mario Kart 8: Bowser Jr., Diddy Kong, Birdo,

Also, who like like to see the option of using double dash karts?
I think that would be a very logical extension, even if all the carts/bikes need to be updated for 2 players. It would be so fun to get an extra gaming mode, with non-MK8 characters appearing behind the MK8 player.
I think I read somewhere, or maybe heard, that the reason Double Dash was never revisited was because the Double Dash system pushed the limits of the console in ways they didn't like. It was too complicated and they wanted to spend their resources on less gimmicky parts of the game? I mean, that's mostly speculation, but Wii U is obviously much more powerful than the GameCube, so who knows? Maybe we will see some more Double Dashing in MK8 or a future installment. Seems logical since everyone really wants it. But everyone also really wants a Majora's Mask remake so..... haha.
Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)
Don't think it's been posted, but screenshots for Excitebike Arena:
On another note... I have a question about Yoshi Circuit. Namely, is the tunnel shortcut still present? Because it was pretty cool in the Gamecube version of the track, yet got removed in the DS one. Did Nintendo remember to keep it in for the Mario Kart 8 version?
@CM30 Removed as the exit of the shortcut cannot be seen in the trailer hence confirming this is a remake of the DS remake rather than a remake of the GCN original.

That sucks. I'm disappointed they're basing the DLC off the Mario Kart DS versions of tracks, because those had to remove stuff for memory/space reasons. That don't exist any more.
