Topic: Mario Kart 8 - OT

Yeah, for the first few days I had a ton of communication errors but I have almost no issue now.
They haven't stopped completely for me, but they're rare enough that it's not an issue.

Don't know if the game bugged out on me or if it lagged but I was clearly the fist racer past the finishing line. Has this happened to anyone else?

@19Robb92 It's lag happened to me three times yesterday can be annoying.

@19Robb92 Yep, just really bad lag I guess. Thankfully it doesn't seem to happen too often, but it is quite annoying when it does.

yeah, it's very annoying.

what annoys me in online is that i'm always the 1st place buffer, by this i mean is that I'm in 2nd - 3rd place and suddenly get hit by a shell, then everyone who passes by spams their shells on me allowing the 1st placer to go off safe and sound

It maybe all the devices on the internet slowing it down.

I haven't had any connection problems except for rare disconnects and once or twice a player reported in front of me (always makes me laugh)

It's been such a long time since I've ever visted NL. But all of my save data has mysteriously vanished for no reason whatsoever. Before the save file had erased I've had: almost 3000 VR, every single character and unlocked almost every single kart part. (the only one I've needed was the golden glider) I'm so annoyed right now because of this D=. It happened just earlier, I only just wanted to play some online today ='T.

Well, that's....odd. I know this may seem obvious, but did you do anything to your user? Did you delete your user? Are you playing under a different user? Anything?

Nope, I didn't do anything like that to my user account and there are no other accounts on my Wii U apart from the one that I use. Hmmmmmmm.....

That feature was removed. It was one of the things that had to be done in order to balance out the karts and bikes.

I disagree. The change to the way you hold items hasn't made the game "less frantic" if anything it has forced people to be less defensive in the way they play. If you are in second or third your primary goal is to try and take first. In previous Mario Karts you could do that by shooting all your items at first while maintaining a defence. If you were in first you could be extra defensive by holding multiple defensive items so they countered that by making Blue Shells and so on much more frequent.

Now if you're in the middle of the pack it's chaos because you can't defend AND attack at the same time. You have to pick when to defend and when to attack. The number of times I've decided to use my banana peel or shell just before the next item box only to get a coin or mushroom and be left defenceless to a red shell. How is that not more chaos? Sure if you're first now you can usually get a bit of a lead because the pack is chaos, you have no reason to be aggressive rather than defensive and there are less Blue Shells. But if you're in the pack? Or if second place has a triple red shell? It's crazier than previous Karts.

Being in the middle of the pack is the most frantic thing ever in this game as there's always items just flying around everywhere.
I'm constantly checking the GamePad before I use any item just to make sure I'm not going to throw away my only shield just to get red shelled.
Get a banana or green shell in first place, gotta cling onto it with dear life because you may never get another one again.
It's sure made things a lot more interesting.

Oh my god, 4500+? You are crazy.

4500+ VR isn't a crazy amount considering how long the game's been released. I played online as a guest with a friend a couple of weeks back and by the time I had to leave, I had about 2100+ VR, I think? If I actually had a Wii U to call my own, I imagine I'd be in the 6000s by now, if not more.

Depends I'd be in the 6000 range if I could consistently get lobbies with people with high VR ratings around 5000+ but when I'm only finding rooms with sub 3000 people and lucky to get 10 VR points for winning then it takes time.
