Can anyone help, (sorry! if it's a silly question) I noticed when playing MK8 online earlier that at the end of the race you can press the START+ button and it counts up 1-6 stars, can any of you explain what this is all about? It also comes up when you race offline as well. Thanks!
Well, these pictures have apparently been proven fake over on the comment section on NL's article, or at least the battle mode picture.
FWIW, I think the roster characters, the courses and cars/parts are what's possible as DLC. Additional gaming modes (such as new Battle modes) would need updates to the game itself.
I hope we still see some Mario Kart 8 DLC tomorrow.
I think instead of paying for more car parts they should just raise the cap for coins needed to unlock even more ones.
Love to see the character roster expanded and the battle mode improved of course.

You can save 6 races to watch later in Mario Kart TV, this tells you how many you've saved and if you've saved the current race. It also automatically saves the last twelve races.
Mario Kart TV is frustrating. When I watch over clips, they're never quite what I want. Eother the angle is weird or the scene I'm looking for isn't even included in the reel. Anyways, is there a way to change the camera so it's the same view as during a race?

I have found no way to manually change camera angles, but you can edit what it shows in the highlight reel. There's options for length, the racer(s) being focused on, and which specific events are being focused on. Press the A button during a highlight reel, select "Edit Highlight Reel" and set it so that it shows the whole race.

That's great, thanks! so much for the heads-up, it was really bugging me not knowing what it was all about. Cheers! mate.

Pressing + here will give you a favorited video. This saves the playback on that race for a later time in MKTV so that you can go back and edit it whenever you feel like it. Considering how few people appear to know this, I'd say this is a criminally underused feature.

Kinda sucks that even when you change what you want to be focused on, it mostly just shows the same stuff from different angles.
I've had quite a few times where something interesting has happened in a race, but I haven't been able to get a good highlight video with it.
It needs a proper editing mode, or at least needs to allow you to upload full replays to Youtube.
That being said, I've gotten a lot more out of Mario Kart TV than I expected to, and I've actually ended uploading quite a few to Youtube and sharing them on Facebook.
