People are speculating about a DLC/Season Pass for Mario Kart 8 since they released one for Mario Golf on the 3DS. I don't know how I feel on this but it could be a good think I suppose. As long as it doesn't mess up the online multiplayer like COD does. What are your thoughts?

Wow such idiotic statements regarding what the rules are on Nintendo selecting retro tracks.

The rules are, there are no rules!!

PS If Nintendo are reading (which they're not), can you please just make every track available as DLC. Don't overprice it and everyone will buy it. 32 kart tracks, no matter how dynamic will get old quickly.

I only posted this to get my avatar as the forum's thumbnail.

I don't feel like Wario Colosseum would really gain that much from the update. Or any Double Dash course, for that matter.

You don't think tricking, gliding, underwater, and antigravity aren't much? LOL.

They've added more to the series in the last few games than the series ever has, there is a world of difference between Double Dash and 8.

Just went to my local GameStop and saw this game getting advertised a bunch. Totally on the hype train for this game!

@Nintenjoe64 You're right. The are no rules. Doesn't mean there aren't patterns. Even so, we're just making reasonable assumptions. Nothing is set in stone. Clearly, they're going to break a pattern, here. I just feel the "four tracks from the last game" pattern is more likely to be broken.

@Bolt_Strike Yes, but they aren't gonna remodel the whole course just to accommodate some extra features. Fill the dome with water? Cool. Glide into the dome? Nice. Tricks off of ramps? Doesn't change a lot, but sure! Maybe have the track go sideways? Why not? But I don't think they'll do all of this, and even if they were going to, I feel a Bowser Castle course is just far more likely.

No, they're not going to use every single one of those features, they're going to add them where it feels natural, but there's a lot of places in the course where it does feel natural. Like GameExplain pointed out, the whole track has a roller coaster feel, with the track weaving up and down and all around through the dome and jumping off ramps, there are plenty of places to put trick ramps, gliding sections, and antigravity without them feeling too forced. In fact, I'd say there's more that could be done here than there is on any Bowser's Castle course in the series.

Either they keep it free or do it like how Fire Emblem: Awakening did DLC.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

I fail to see what's so special about the track, then. It doesn't seem any more interesting than any other twisty, turny, track that floats in mid-air. It really doesn't seem special beyond being an excuse to use anti-gravity.

@Blast Actually, I think that the way Mario Golf is handling DLC would work great, here, too. Two new cups? One Retro and one New. A new character our two? I don't see why not. Maybe even a new Battle track or two? I don't see the downside. And sell it for $8-$12 each. May only be one pack.

There's a key difference between Mario Golf and Mario Kart 8. Mario Kart is a vastly more popular series than Mario Golf. DLC coming to MG? The only people who really are gonna buy the DLC are the people who are obsessed with the game.
But MK8? I don't know how people would respond well to DLC for MK8. MK8's audience is so wide... from kids all the way to adults. It really depends on the pricing and how its done. Heck, the online for DLC tracks might be small. It REALLY depends on how Nintendo does it.

I personally wouldn't spend more than 7 bucks for a track. A Season Pass shouldn't cost over 12 dollars in my eyes. $15 for a Season Pass? HECK NO.

Oh man I can't wait to see how the gravity will be used in battle mode where you can go on the walls and upside down things.

Since there's only one unnannounced retro track, let's make a pool, shall we?

SNES Bowser's Castle 1
SNES Bowser's Castle 2
SNES Bowser's Castle 3
GBA Bowser's Castle 4
GCN Bowser's Castle
DS Bowser Castle
Wii Bowser's Castle
Another Track I Didn't Mention

The "other track" option is probably the most likely because it's by far the most broad. However of all the tracks individually I think the Wii Bowser's Castle seems like the most obvious answer. However if I was to pick the one I wanted to see the most it would be SNES Bowser's Castle 3.

I would love DLC for Mario Kart 8 and I have no idea why so many people would be worried about it. If you want more tracks pay for the DLC, if not then don't pay

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

What makes it more complicated? If it was me and if MK8's online works just like MK7 then if a DLC track is selected then you spectate it. (would be like advertising for those who did buy it) But the other way would be if not everyone in the race has access to DLC tracks then those DLC tracks aren't selectable. I don't see how it would be complicated

DLC is a very slippery slope that can easily ruin a game if its not done right. I trust Nintendo but anything can happen.

How so? Most DLC anywhere is optional and most racing game with new tracks or cars usually put out comptaboloty patches as to not break multiplayer.
