I never considered a Wii U before, but then Nintendo dropped the price on refurbished ones to $200. Now I'm seriously considering buying one and I want to know if It's worth it. Also, I'd appricieate if someone listed some good Wii U games.

At 200 dollars? Yes, yes absolutely. With the 3 month drought right now, now might be the perfect time to get into the already released titles before Mario Kart etc comes out honestly.

get some nintendo sequels, rayman legends, wonderful 101, whichever M rated games interest you. Get some friends over and I feel confident you'll get a lot of fun out of it.

$200 is a good price but really it depends what games you want to play.

Battle.net - Dayman
Steam - RancidVomit86
PSN - RancidVomit86

I suggest it. I bought Pikmin 3 first and I'm getting tropical freeze next. Do the refurbished ones come with new super mario u? if so, thats a really sweet deal. $200 is a steal either way, though.

At this point there are a ton of games worth getting on the Wii U especially as kkslider said during a game drought. I've liked basically every game I've gotten so I have a lot of suggestions like all or most of the Nintendo exclusives, Super Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3, Super Mario Bros. U, Nintendo Land, Wind Waker HD, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, etc. There's also great 3rd party even if there isn't a lot. Like Splinter Cell Blacklist, those that kkslider listed, etc. At $200 it's definitely a good deal.

Hell Yes the Wii U is totally worth it!

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

This should be an "I bought a Wii U" thread, darn it Yes, Wii U is worth $200. The ones from Nintendo only come with Nintendo Land as the pack in software, I think. It definitely depends on what you want to play, but I'd say it's pretty easy to find something of interest for everyone.

Yes. Yes. Yes.
The system is grossly underrated. For $200, just go for it.

You're prob. going to get redirected to another thread, but yes. Get one! Any Ninty game, Rayman Legends, Batman Arkham City or Origins (the latter missing story dlc and multiplayer), Splinter Cell, Sonic, etc is good.

It's only worth it as of now if you like PIkmin, Mario, or DK. Not really any reason for anyone else.

As said, it depends on what you want to play. If these games suit your interest, however. Any three of them, really, I'd say $200 is worth it:

1st party titles: (Includes 2nd Party titles)
New Super Mario Bros U (Luigi DLC, too)
Game & Wario
NintendoLand
Pikmin 3
WindWaker HD
Super Mario 3D World
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze

1st Party future:
Mario Kart 8 (May)
Super Smash Bros 4 Wii U (Anytime from about June to November, really)
Zelda U (Iunno!)

*2nd Party promised:
Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem
Yarn Yoshi
X (Monolith Soft's new title)

3rd Party titles:
Call of Duty: Black Ops II
Call of Duty: Ghosts
Tekken Tag Tournament 2
Injustice: Gods Among Us
Sonic Lost World
Lego City Undercover
ZombiU
Rayman Legends
Wonderful 101
Splinter Cell: Blacklist

3rd party promised:
Bayonetta 2
Watch Dogs
Hyrule Warriors
Project CARS

There's also a wealth of good eShop titles hanging around, if you're willing to go searching for them. I'm pretty fond of Knytt Underground, myself, and NES Remix is not only pretty good, it's getting a sequel!

This was just off the top of my head, but if you honestly can't find a good enough reason to get the Wii U out of this list, this may not be the console for you. (I mean, seriously, there has to be at LEAST three titles in their that catch your interest.

Anyone, feel free to add to my list, if you remember a good game I missed.

*2nd party is a term I use to refer to studios that are either owned by Nintendo or work very closely with them, like Retro or Game Freak. They aren't Nintendo, so they're not 1st party, but they do get their funding and other resources from Nintendo, so 3rd party doesn't describe them, either.

Bro, as of now the Wii U is the most sensible console to get. It has a lot of quality games on it than it's competitors with a way lower price.

Nintendo fan since 6 years of age.
Owned: SNES, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, DS, 3DS, Wii U, PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4 and PSP3000.

I get this really funny double reaction from this comment, here.

On one side, there's me going "Oh, but that's not true!" and then the other is me realizing that it kinda is, and even worse, that attitudes similar to this comment are exactly why it's kinda true. Now, there are some good 3rd party games on the Wii U. Wonderful 101, Rayman Legends, and even the Call of Duty games are all up to snuff. But these games didn't do well on the Wii U. Know why? Because Wii U owners were like "but Nintendo games are coming, soon" and everyone else was like "pah! 3rd party on a Nintendo box? That'll be the day!" It's almost kinda tragic.

Wii U feels like the best nintendo console i've owned. So yeah, it's more than definitely worth it.

At $300, I'd say Wii U is worth it for fans of Nintendo. At $200, I'd say it's totally worth it for anyone with an open mind about gaming. At this point, Nintendo is a separate galaxy from the rest of the industry, if you want to try games different than what you have on PC, Playstation or Xbox, go for it. You're in for a ride.

I bought a basic unit at $200 a while back, and think it was a good purchase.

My problems/complaints?

  • Had to get a new router because the built-in wireless wasn't working no matter how our existing one was configured - this upset me quite a bit because everything else in our house worked without issue, but in the end it wasn't such a big deal.
  • Future support is a concern, as third parties have pretty much abandoned the Wii U and nobody knows how long Nintendo will support the console if it's not very successful.

What I like about Wii U?

  • The library of games will certainly be smaller than PS4/XBone, but first-party content alone the console will probably be enough to justify the console for me.
  • The tablet-like controller is kind of odd, but off-screen play is something I've really enjoyed - allowing me to play games or watch movies in bed or while other people are using our main TV.
  • Full backwards compatibility with my Wii stuff is a huge value for me because I've got a huge collection/backlog waiting to be played and lots of digital content to carry forward.
  • Easily the most family-friendly gaming system around. We've got two young children at home, so having something we can all enjoy matters to me.
