In the Walmart picture, isn't that a ir sensor near the charging port? I could be wrong of course. Could be for it to act as a wii mote only...
We'll just have to wait in see. I'm still pretty interested so I'll have my eye on it.
That is the impression I was under. The only thing I can't figure out is how the controller's D-pad works. It would be nice if it could rotate the inputs to fit the software being used, but I kinda doubt it will be able to. Because of that, I will definitely be waiting for reviews before trying one.
I got one yesterday. It does not function as a Wii U Pro controller. It is a Wiimote and Classic controller rolled into one. It has two switches on the bottom. One for using it as a Wiimote only or as classic controller. The other switches the tilt sensor so you can emulate wether you are using the Wiimote sideways or facing the TV. The rumble only works when you use it as a Wiimote only. The Dpad and buttons are very nice. Using it as a VC controller or as a Wiimote works well. The analogue sticks are very twitchy however which making it hard to use as a modern controller for shooters etc.

Thank you very much for letting us know. Now I dont have to wait to find out!
Guess I'll go get a Wii U Pro controller ASAP.
So it can only be used on Wii U? Because this would have been extremely helpful back for the original Wii. I would have bought one of these for my Wii in a heart beat..

No. It works on both Wii and Wii U. On Wii U its only acting like a Wii classic controller, not a Pro controller. So it's actually better for the original Wii rather than the Wii U.
So is this available in store and does this mean I can use this controller on wii games, and not use the nun chuck. Does it work on animal crossing or mario galaxy mainly is what I'm asking, not a big fan on the nunchuck

Why didn't these come out years ago!!? there have been so many times when I sit down to play Goldeneye or SSBB and have to see the Wii remote down somewhere. What a pain. The cord usually gets in the way and when it doesn't it falls off of whatever i set it on, during the heat of battle

No. It won't function as a Wiimote Nunchuck combo. It's either a Wiimote on its own or a classic controller.
Considering the nunchuck includes its own motion sensors that most games make use of, adding nunchuck-less nunchuck support for something like this would be pretty pretty hard.
My only question is this, will this work with New Super Mario Brothers. My Wii U is wrapped up and under the tree; I've only had it out long enough to do the updates and check out what the various menus are and what they will do, as well as briefly throw in Mario to check it out. What I do know; holding the wii mote sideways just flat out sucks and I don't really want to hold in my hand something as big as the gamepad. On Amazon the description for this says "Xbox 360 styled Ergonomic grip allows for player comfort during FPS gaming and complex jumping runs in Super Mario Bros U". Is this an accurate statement?

no wii remote or gamepad are only options
Yes. It works as Wii remote on its side. Button y and x on the controller are the equivalent of 1 and 2 on the Wii remote. The speakers work in this mode and the rumble is stronger than a Wii remote. The Dpad is not the most accurate though. But it feels nice to play Mario with a proper controller.

Is there no way to change that? I'd rather use y and b as 1 and 2, so NSMB would play like SNES Super Mario World.
Also, I heard this thing was junk and the ABXY buttons were just stickers? Any idea what that is supposed to mean?
Sounds like you have used the two of them together. In what sense is the dpad not accurate? Is this something that can be overcome through practice or repeated usage? I really want a controller, but input needs to be accurate at the same time.
@Marioxb No there is no button mapping. Y and X are 1 and 2. A is A and B is the Wiimote trigger. The circular part of the controller where the buttons are has a sticker on it with the button names. @dncollins64 Not accurate as in if you press down it registers like your pressing down on an angle. So trying to do a but stomp in Mario. You jump and press down and he moves left or right instead. Maybe with use the Dpad might loosen up or wear in. But new out of the box the Dpad isn't accurate.
