My HDTV doesn't have any type of advanced settings, so that's probably why it's 8ms. Game Mode isn't even all that accurate with lighting or color, from my experience, so that mode gets rid of input lag, but now your color and lights are all off. That's why it's good to do more research than most people probably do.

There is a difference in the game setting for the image and a game mode that turns off processing. When you are looking at the vanilla settings like Movie, game and yadda yadda, that is just a picture setting which changes color and brightness and what have you. Some TV's have a setting that literally turns off all their processing and they aren't all created equal either. Some manufacturers decide to do it but still have things running for some reason. In any event, there is a difference.
Also, response time, reported in ms, is not the same as input lag. Two different things. I tried to explain that in this thread prior, but not sure if I did a real good job of it. lol
