Topic: Help! New & Freezing!

Opened my Wii U this morning. Got it all set up and launched MK8 that came preinstalled. Within 5 minutes, it froze, made a buzzing noise and can only be turned off by a hard shut down. I've tried a few "fixes" (Miiverse languages to English, unplugging Wii U and router) and nothing has worked. I finally got through to race 4 of the first Grand Prix and it froze AGAIN! That's the farthest I've gotten. Anyone? Please? I'm ready to just go to bed and forget Christmas ever happened...

@BrittGOAL14 Get a new one. It should be covered by the warranty, just take it back to the store you got it from and explain the situation.

Have you got your WiiU online and done any updates yet?

I have. Then I deleted the update data for Mario Kart 8. Still froze on me. Finally gave up; disabled Miiverse, and put Mario Party 10 in and then had no issues. I'll have to test it when I get home in a bit.

I'll try that in a couple of days if that's still an issue.
