So, I have to admit, in 2013 and the first half of 2014, I went from Nintendo's hugest supporter since 1983, to... A pessimist. I never thought I'd be down on my favorite company, but I got swept up in the negative hype. I even sold my Wii U. So, just today I decided to look up the games available and coming soon, expecting to have a few, and before I know it, I have a page full of games. Here is my lineup:
2014 Games to Get
NSMBU
NSLU
Mario Kart 8
Hyrule Warriors
Bayonetta 1&2
Captain Toad
Super Smash Bros U
Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
NES Remix 1&2
(maybe) Wonderful 101
(maybe) Pikmin 3
2015 Games to Get
Zelda U
Starfox U
Mario Maker
Yoshi's Wooly World
Mario Party 10
Splatoon
Kirby & the Rainbow Curse
Keeping in mind that these are just the games I'm interested in and there are MORE "big" games coming that just aren't my forte (such as Project CARS, since I'm anti-"any racing game but Mario Kart"), this is a MONSTER lineup. If we assume there's atleast a few as of yet unannounced games next year, the we can assume we're looking at about a one-big-release-per-month average. As an adult who works quite a bit but still takes out a fair amount of time for his gaming hobby, that is really the ideal amount of releases to keep me satisfied without being overwhelmed with a backlog.
Obviously, I realized I'm not saying anything most people here don't already know, but I just wanted to post how happy I am about this realization. We've read so much negative about this console lately, that a guy posting a bunch of positive opinions can only help, right? Is anyone else just now realizing how awesome this console is seemingly becoming overnight? What are you most looking forward to? Did I miss any big releases?
TL;DR When did the Wii U go from "console with no games" to "market leader for great quality software"?
The Wii U's lineup has been gradually improving the entire time, but I think E3 2014 tipped the scales. That was when we started seeing more games and more creative games. It seems like the Wii U is finally starting to hit its stride.

Did someone say tip the scales?
Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)

Haha, well the main reason is because I had it previously when I had a Wii U, but only got halfway through. I have a very strange relationship with Pikmin, where while I'm playing it I go back and forth in my head from "Wow, this game is so creative and awesome" and then out of nowhere I start thinking "but it's kind of boring", and then something happens and I get excited again, and it's back and forth. It's the only game I can think of that that consistently happens with. I love everything Miyamoto makes, for the most part (minus WIi Music!) It's under maybe because I am iffy on having to play through the first half again. I wish I had a save file where I could pick up where I left off!
Based on my opinion and the fact that I've already played Pikmin 3, yeah
Are you suggesting it's silly to have an opinion that one of the better Mario games to be released in a long while is better than W101? I don't think that sounds too silly! I'm very much on the fence about w101's style of play, whereas Mario is.. well, Mario!
I couldn't help but notice Pikmin 3 had a "maybe" before it... Is this a typo? Because I think it should read more like, "I will obviously get Pikmin 3, since it is one of the best games ever made."
I would say exactly the same, but swapping Pikmin 3 for The Wonderful 101. Such an unique game, a new IP, an exclusive, a Hideki Kamiya game, a game heavily discounted by now. Do I need to continue?
I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.
2014 Q3/4 line-up is going to be my most expensive 6 months of gaming ever, I think. The amount of games coming out from here until New Year that I must have is nuts, and most of them are on Wii U and 3DS.

I actually don't currently, but I am planning on purchasing one again within the next 2 weeks. At the very, very latest at the end of September when Hyrule Warriors comes out. MK8 & Hyrule Warriors are the 2 games I'm really looking forward to this year as my 2 favorite types of games are RPG's and Multiplayer games I can play with friends. By the way, is the 83 in your name for a 1983 birthdate? Wondering how many people are old farts like me, haha!
EDIT: Hyrule Warriors obviously doesn't fit either of those 2 categories, but what I meant is since I love RPG/Adventure games, Zelda is my favorite series of all time. And although I know it plays nothing like a Zelda game, I'm a sucker for anything Zelda-related.
It's that good, huh? I played the demo and it seemed high quality, but I'm not HUGE on action, button mashing type games. I do think it's a game that could grow on me, and I'm trying to expand my interests. I was a HUUUUGE gamer until 18 years old (2001), but then I stopped for 10 years, so I have soooo much catching up to do. I've hardly ever even played a FPS. I don't even really know what I like nowadays, barring RPG's and multiplayer games like Smash, Kart & Mario Party that I can play with friends.
