So today, I was playing multiplayer on my Wii u with my friend on Mario kart. When we were playing multiplayer, some how everything was from scratch. For instance the courses were removed and the only ones were the mushroom cup and the green shell cup. And then when I went to play online, my vr went down to 1000! All my stamps were removed and my characters were, too. And this is disappointing because I had 7200 vr .

How is it possible that all my data got removed when I was playing multiplayer? Please help!!!

@BlazeHeart0421 Nightmare! Did you happen to change user in the user settings by any chance? Other than that the only thing I can think of is your save file is corrupted, hopefully not.Good luck!

I didn't change the user settings. I don't know how and why this happened, but I hope I get to find an answer soon! But for now, I'll have to start getting all my vr back. :/

Tomorrow I might call Nintendo but I don't think they can help me.

My guess is that, if you're using an external hard drive, that it may have been disconnected from your console. Double check that it is working and try again.

My external hard drive sometimes doesn't turn on when I turn on my Wii U so you may be experiencing the same problem.

This sounds like an external HD thing. Either the HD isn't turned ON or OFF as it use to be.

Oh well, I'm not using an external hard drive so I guess it's not that..

I think it was the fact that during multiplayer, we were switching controllers, but I don't think that has anything to do with it.

I looked at Mario kart 8 under data management and I looked at my data and the shared data. My data only had 64 mb, and it was saved yesterday which was the day that my data got lost. So I don't think I have a choice but to try to get it all back now..

I am sorry to hear that. I'd imagine it would be a real pain unlocking all the characters again.

Yeah, and also getting all the vr points I had. But I played Mario kart today and I got 980 vr points. I'll have to play for a LONG time.

At least it will be fun work re-earning all of those unlocks and VR points. It's not like the dog running across your freshly-mopped floor with muddy feet. My son accidentally deleted my save file from Mario Kart Wii several years ago, and I had a two-star profile on that game. I actually enjoyed having to go back and re-win all of that stuff.

When I played Chrono Trigger years ago when it was still fairly new for the SNES, my little brother deleted my saved file when I was like 20 hours into the game. I got so angry I shoved the SNES controller in his mouth. Then he did it again months later.

Actually your right. Once I deleted my Animal Crossing New Lead File by accident and I had to start over. But I actually enjoyed playing it again.

And I'm really thankful that my DLC data didn't get deleted because I would absolutely HATE buying the packs again.

I might know the problem.

Do you have multiple accounts on your Wii U? Most games on the Wii U keep separate saves between accounts. I believe Mario Kart 8 is amongst the games that do that. If you do have multiple accounts, you might have logged onto the wrong account hence the reason why your progress is gone and that you still have the DLC.

Hmm...

The only account I have on my Wii U is mine, so no. When u start my Wii U up, it automatically logs in to my account. I guess it just deleted itself ;-;
