Anyone else think a game in the vein of Baldur's Gate would be perfect for the Wii U and the capabilities of the Gamepad? You could obviously use off-screen play to tap on the screen to move your characters and play but also have the Gamepad serving as the inventory or spell page with you controlling your party on your television.

As far as I'm aware no-one seems to be working on a game like that for the Wii U currently but a port of both Baldur's Gate Enhanced Editions to the eShop makes sense. Same goes with full retail releases for Wasteland 2 or the upcoming Torment: Tides of Numenera.

Isometric TBS/RPG ... one of my favourite genres. Actually I think BGEE is available on IPad, isn't it?
Still, as basically with everything else that has comes up over the years, I don't see the crucial benefit of 2nd screen gaming for this. It would probably just move the hud and parts of the interface to the gamepad. While that would work just fine, it would also completely unnecessary. That's even more true for turn-based games, where shortcuts for quick access e.g. to certain skills/items etc. are borderline pointless.
As for controls, I prefer the precession of a D-Pad, or a mouse really. Would be great if those games came to WiiU though, since more people should be playing them, they deserve it. From the looks of it though, that is not going to happen, not even for systems that sell like crazy like the PS4. All the action is on the PC, and frankly I'm just glad that there is action at all. That is not something that used to self-evident. Thank god for Kickstarter.

Btw, why the hell did you not mention Shadowrun Returns (The DC of the excellent addon Dragonfall came out just a couple of days ago) as well as Pillars of Eternity, which is looking to be much more in the vain of Baldurs Gate, than Wasteland or Torment.

Luckily you don't need a powerful PC to run any of these games ... so no excuses!

I've got Shadowrun Returns on Steam - it's decent but nothing spectacular. Will check out Pillars of Eternity!

The base Shadowrun is dull compared to Daggerfall, and apparently the Director's Cut is miles better.
