I for one, take back any doubts I ever had for this game. It's really wonderful. I only wish Nintendo had bundled it with the all the systems instead of just the deluxe model, because really everyone should get a chance to experience it.
I'm just surprised by how much content is present here, it blows Wii Sports completely out of the water.
Would you say Nintendo made the right choice with this one? Or would a different kind of show-case game been more fit for the Wii U's launch?
Of course this is an appropriate launch title. It not only gives out an over abundance of fan service in a seemingly flawless way but it showcases the potential for the Wii U hardware, something Wii Sports didn't do entirely.

Although NintendoLand showcased the Wii U much better than Wii Sports showcased the Wii, I still find Wii Sports better. For a "casual" gamer, it is much easier to understand Wii Sports like "oh so this remote is my tennis racket". NintendoLand needs some explaining, and although once understood it is a great game, I will have to agree with IGN on how they said "Grandma won't get it".

Anything that shows focus on the Gamepad, and delivers a new experiance, is a good launch title. How is Nintendo Land not a good launch title
It may have not had that same wow factor Wii Sports had. But it was sure better than Wii Play's intentions.
Nintendo Land was the perfect launch title. Now part of me still thinks it should come with every single Wii U console, but the way the Deluxe version works (mainly the Digital Download program) does a lot to justify why it is the way it is. Also because far more money probably went into Nintendo Land.
But really, it is perfect. It is in every way the clear continuation of what Wii Sports and Resort were doing but it adds fanservice and more immediate challenge for hardcore gamers. Since Wii U is supposed to be like the Wii except more catering towards hardcore gamers, it fits perfectly. It has at least enough multiplayer games and just enough single player games to justify it for people who don't use local multiplayer frequently, yet still enough multiplayer to convince people to give local multiplayer a chance. In theory this is because it's 50/50 but half of the multiplayer games can be played single player to give you more games to play by yourself. But the Mario game is the multiplayer-only one so almost everyone will play some local multiplayer even if they don't normally. Considering how the Wii's success beyond 2008 has been like, half, because of the local multiplayer NSMB sequel (which btw, one of those games on Wii U too), it's good they're focusing on it. But there's still Miiverse to show the importance of online will be there and will be shoved in your face even in games you can't play online.
Maybe I'm overthinking it but I'm sure Nintendo over thought this since it's supposed to be a big deal. Even if I didn't like the game, it's brilliant. Not to mention the free advertising that will almost certainly guarantee the success of Pikmin 3 and the new Animal Crossing (assuming success wasn't guaranteed for those games anyway).
Pretty much what @CactusJohnson and @kkslider5552000 said. It's absolutely fantastic. Pretty much perfect. And Nintendo using their other franchises with it is very good, since it equally plays off of nostalgia and advertises their games.
Also, the music blows Wii Sports out of the water.
Best thread ever
Feel free to add me on Miiverse or PSN.
Miiverse is Moomoo14, PSN is Moomoo1405390
Of course we can. Anyone who says that it's not a great game or that it made no sense as a launch title don't know what they're talking about. Nintendo hit home with the Wii managing to get consoles into the houses of thousands of non gaming families. With the launch of the Wii U any of these families that have moved on to the Wii U will have picked up Nintendoland as they did Wii Sports. By doing so Nintendo introduce a large majority of their major franchises and ensure that when they release their next Zelda, Metroid, Pikmin etc. game in those franchises they will be getting more people new to the series recognising them and picking them up.
Nintendo obviously saw that their problem with the Wii was that the thousands of families that purchased Wii Sports purchased no other games for their Wii's. At least in this situation these families will have many Nintendo franchises which they hopefully now feel comfortable buying a game of.

Sonic is AMAZING!! Nintendo is AMAZING!! I AM AMAZING!!
It's quite possibly my favorite game of 2012.
If only the NintendoLife community (including myself) didn't dock it to no end following E3 2012. However, it could have been showcased a lot differently.
Personally, I hated the original Wii Sports. After the initial 5 seconds of "OOOO! Intuitive control scheme!" I lost interest due to the boring, repetitive, limited nature of the sports. However, Nintendo Land has many deep, challenging, fun games plus fan service! If this is the Wii U's "Wii Sports" then I cant wait to see what the actual good Wii games will be like on the Wii U!
"Good. Everyone's together. Pyrrhon loves a party." "...It's funny because marriage is terrible!" If you know the origin of both of those quotes, then you're awesome! Songs are like hugs that mouths give to ears. Dreams are easy to achieve if hope is all...

Judging games before they're released, and based on a disappointment of a hyped up show - is a no no. >:[
Wii Sports was made to showcase motion-gaming. Although the game couldn't completely express that as well as some other titles were, it was general enough to attract the large crowds that would surely be waiting for their chance to play to try the console.
Nintendo Land was made to showcase the usefulness of the GamePad and the multiplayer functions to include the whole family. And it definitely met those standards.
Some people will argue that Nintendo Land isn't for everyone, which is explanatory. I relate it to Smash Bros, though. Brawl is attracting to anyone I know, even the Microsoft friends I have (Note I don't mention any Sony friends u_u) that are without any real Nintendo knowledge enjoy it. Who's to say they won't enjoy Nintendo Land? Two of my siblings have no idea what Animal Crossing or Pikmin are, but the attractions in the game are still a blast for everyone.
I would say Nintendo Land was better against Wii Sports.

It's severely outdated, but I guess you can look at it if you want. (?)

I still haven't played Nintendo Land yet. I play most of the time on just the GamePad, which is why, I guess. It's been my "to play" game the most though, without a doubt.
I had AC3, ZombiU and Darksiders 2 and i wanted someting where i can relax so i bought Nintendo Land. And now i dont play anything else. I love Takamarus Ninja Castle and when friends come we play Luigis Mansion and we have a blast. I think Nintendo Land is one of the best games that was released last year.
All that would make this game even better is even more attractions for Kirby, Star Fox, Kid Icarus, and Pokemon, but it's big enough as it is. Expectations have clearly been exceeded since last E3, so this is definitely a good launch title.
Wii Sports did a poor job at showcasing the Wii. It didn't necessarily represent all of the console's potential solely relying on sports themed mini games. And if that sounds false, just look at Resort as an example. Resort would've been a much more appreciated launch title with so much variety.
It only took Nintendo three years to realize that anything less than 1;1 motion controls is obsolete as well.
