The pre-E3 presentation got me very excited about the WiiU. As for the information they released today? Not too excited. Tomorrow will be better, hopefully, for the 3DS.

I'm not too disappointed in the games shown this E3 really. But I'm still waiting to hear more about the VC on Wii U. I also wanted to see how(if) the new GamePad could be used with our old Wii Games, and if there were going to be any surprises like the ability to display legacy games in 720p, cloud storage, haptic technology, 3DS compatibility, or even something about that shake weight stylus we got a peek at a while ago.

...in my pants.

I was expecting that rumored starfox game to be revealed, but alas there was nothing. And yeah I kinda agree, Pikmin 3 was the only thing that was really interesting. Everything else was just another generic sequel in a franchise or some casual minigame that looks pretty basic. I must admit, I thought that Wii U was going to have an absolutely mindblowing reveal with all the talk of it recently, but from what I've seen so far it just looks like Wii 2.0 and that the shovelware party games issue still has yet to be solved.

Absolutely not. Who could be disappointed? We finally got the Pikmin 3 reveal, New Super Mario Bros. U looks surprisingly awesome and like they put a lot of thought into it since last year. We got glimpses at Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, Paper Mario Sticker Star, and New Super Mario Bros. 2 which all look fantastic and will have more details filled in tomorrow. We got the unveiling of Scribblenauts Unlimited for both Wii U and 3DS which really shocked me and got me excited. Aside from that we got the announcement of Wii Fit U (not terribly exciting but it looked like a fairly good application of the GamePad) as well as confirmation and details of various 3rd party games including the excellent looking ZombiU. And then there is Nintendo Land! While the revealing of this game probably wasn't handled in the best way, the game looks extremely pretty and I really can't wait to play it. And that isn't even everything that was shown or will be shown between tonight and tomorrow night. Sure, it would have been nice to see Star Fox, F-Zero, Metroid, etc but that conference was FAR from disappointing!

This post...my feelings exactly.

But you all know you wouldn't be saying anything if Nintendo came out and said, "The Wii U will be released in North America August 12th at $269."

If it weren't for Microsoft's annoying dance routine and endless sports talk, this easily would have been the worst conference of E3.

Pikmin looked amazing, but other than that, there was absolutely nothing stand out. I'd love to have a new Mario game for the new Nintendo system, but I'm pretty sick of these lazily hashed together "New Super Mario Bros." games. Where's a true successor to Mario Galaxy.. or any of Nintendo's big franchises for that matter, did they really have nothing to show? Starfox, Metroid, F-Zero, Pokemon.. anything?

The third party stuff was embarrassing, save for Lego City Stories.. as someone who owns a gaming PC, a 360 and a PS3, there was nothing to be even remotely excited about there, it was almost all games that have already been released. I'm not sure how this is supposed to sell Nintendo back to the "hardcore" crowd. Microsoft and Sony didn't have brilliant shows either, but they're basically just biding their time until next year, when they announce new systems. Nintendo on the other hand had everything to play for and delivered nothing.

Once upon a time Nintendo had the hammer in their hand. The nail was in front of them... but instead they hit someone else’s nail, and hit someone else's nail again.
Then when they finally hit their nail... it only went half way and bent to the side.

And Sony and Microsoft lived happy ever after.

@Highwinter Yep have to agree with you on your points.
They spoke last year about capturing the 'hardcore' crowd. Well I'm pretty sure that the E3 audience is made up of mostly hardcore gamers yet they spent mainly the whole conference concentrating on Party/Fitness type stuff. While I've nothing against this genre, it has it's place in the market, lets face it E3 is for the hardcore.I can't imagine too many Grannies or Soccer moms tuning in to the live stream. So these are the people that you want to go away from the show buzzing about the new console, instead what they got was a very lackluster ripple of applause and a slating from most websites.
Which makes me think that Nintendo isn't going to make their hardcore games a priority again and is firmly focused on this family aesthetic and is the way that the company will continue to move towards. This is fine it just means that I won't be that interested in the WiiU.And I'm sorry but a bunch of waaaay too late ports of 360/PS3 games just ain't going to cut it.

I can't believe of all the Wii U games ZombiU made the most use of the new GamePad.

I was a little disappointed because I was so excited after that awesome Pre-E3 Nintendo Direct and the fact that there weren't really any surprises to get excited about.
They clearly seemed to want to give the stage to third parties more than anything else.
At the end of the day though, it's all good really.
There's already a long list of confirmed games that I'll probably need to find the money for, they've said that there's several more on the way and they finally showed off Pikmin 3.
They could have just spent an hour going into Pikmin 3 in more detail and I would have been happy.
I wouldn't say that I'm more excited for the Wii U than I already was... but I'm not less excited.

I lowered my expectations for Nintendo's E3 Conference after watching the Sony Conference last night. I was glad I did. This is the worst E3 I can remember. There was nothing for Wii U that really even remotely interested me, save for a slight bit of interest in Pikmin 3. The first party support was totally absent, and all the 3rd party support were old games currently on the PS360 or just plain awful, and as a PS3 owener I can't see myself buying a Wii U anytime soon.

The 3DS side of things was only mildly better, but yeah. ;__; I love the Wii U itself, but no way am I spending £250+ for a new console so I can play another New Super Mario Bros rehash or the same games that I can get on my PS3 for reduced prices.

@Oldboy

Actually, E3 is for games journalists and, more importantly, investors. That's why you always see emphasis on those casual/party genres - because they sell well and are cheap to make.

However, it is odd given that Nintendo's said it want's to turn more to the hardcore crowd that they spent 20 minutes of the conference on a mini game collection. Though I guess when you have only 2 "core" first party titles (NSMBU and Pikmin 3) and your third party core titles are all old ports, maybe that's not what you want to show off. Bottom line, they needed to come to the show with a real Killer App that used the touch screen in a new way and that would be engaging. I don't think they did that. Don't get me wrong, maps are super convenient, but they don't make me go "wow, that looks like a really fun way to play," like motion control with Wii Sports did.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

Until I heard about Reggie confirming 7 more first-party titles being developed I was disappointed. Who knows what they are or when they come out but perhaps thee is still hope.
