Ok rant time. Lately there have been topics popping up around here about Zelda timelines and even in Zelda threads. I am just trying to figure out why does everyone insist that there is a Zelda timeline?
Yeah I understand there are certain games among the series like The Legend of Zelda and Zelda II, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, A Link to the Past, and Link's Awakening that are connected but are people that obsess with connecting every Zelda game that they have to invent alternate time lines and such? Honestly did it every occur to people that maybe some of the games don't connect? Yes they belong in the series but that doesn't mean they have to all connect somehow.
Whats next are people going to start saying that the Final Fantasy games have a timeline and that they are all alternate timelines or something like that?
I mean I could see if the Zelda games were like the Lord of the Rings for example all written to connect but they weren't yeah there are similarities which in a series there would be. Come on people lets stop looking for something thats not there and find something more constructive with our time than look for something thats not there.

Because there is. I'm looking at it right now in Hyrule Historia. I don't get how anyone can deny that when Nintendo has confirmed they have a timeline.
Looking forward to: No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again

What did Tom Nook do with the mother of his children??!!?
No! That timeline is wrong!
Each AC game has a new Tom Nook, the first was killed by his nephews, which then fight to the death to become the next TomNook.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...

Actually, no. City Folk is in the alternate timeline where Tom Nook doesn't get killed.

I think , maybe, possibly, that if Nintendo had used a different character other than Link and his similar appearances every time the timeline would be less important and people would accept it more like the Final Fantasy "series". .
To blessed to be stressed.

I think the whole timeline deal is just silly, personally. I feel the games are just supposed to be re-tellings of the same story. And honestly, I don't remember when Zelda games had intricate plotlines. It might be just me, but I certainly never felt gripped by them. I sorta get the impression that the timeline was made by Nintendo to end all of the fan theories that came up over the years.
Also, I think the OP knows about the timeline in Hyrule Historia.

That has some merit to it and in that respect I can see where people would think that a timeline does exist in the fact that they use the same characters over and over again. Do so would make people see something that isn't there.

Here's something I don't understand myself, how is it, that fans, likers, etc. of the Zelda series say that there isn't a timeline even when Hyrule Historia is presented to them? Who are you, people who don't have every single detail of the series in their heads, to question the official makers and the ones who work on the series? Yes, you can call it silly, unnecessary, pointless, or say it ruins the whole "mystery" of it, but you still can't say there is not a timeline when the makers know more than what was presented to fans.
I'm currently working on an Animal Crossing timeline.
I have a bigger challenge for you.
Build a Mario timeline with ALL of the Mario games!!!!
Back on topic, it's one of those things that diehard fanboys want to talk about. It makes them happy (well maybe not...) so I'd just let it be.
Maybe I could let it be if people would just quite ramming it down my throat. There really is no evidence of one and I agree with @8BitSamurai that Nintendo just said that to end the argument, but why can't people just accept that their isn't one. Honestly I would be more mellow on this if people would just stop trying to prove me wrong every time I say there isn't one.

As 8BitSamurai said which I have thought all this time. They just made one to shut people up. I honestly believed that Nintendo didn't intend to be one and never made one until people started to saying yes there is one no there isn't.

Haven't there been interviews about the timeline with Shigeru Miyamoto as far back as Ocarina of Time?
