I enjoyed these GBA games the most:

  • Metroid: Zero Mission
  • Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
  • Gunstar Super Heroes
  • Drill Dozer
  • WarioWare Inc: Mega Microgame$!

I'm back (for the moment)!

Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga. It's my first and favorite game of all time.

Agreed: Mario and uigi, Superstar Saga. Next, for me, is Pokemon Emerald. First pokemon game I ever played. (My parents hated pokemon so I started late)

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga is the not only the greatest game on GBA, but one of the greatest games of all time.

Though I would feel ashamed to not talk about Pokemon Sapphire and Megaman Battle Network 6. Those were awesome, too.

My all time favorite would be Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, but I sure did love Metroid Fusion.

If you are into RPGS I recommended Breath of Fire and Breath of Fire 2.

I know you mentioned that you didnt want any castlevania games but I have to say if you havent played Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow than you should. The game play mechanics are a bit different than other Castlevanias so it keeps it interesting. Its deffenitly one of my favorites in the Castlevania series.

Oh and might i make a suggestion maybe you should call this thread GBA recommendations since thats what you are looking for. With the title you have you are going to get alot of people putting down Castlevania Aria of Sorrow, Mario games etc. cause those are alot of peoples favorite GBA games.

Advance wars 1 & 2;
Mario VS Donkey-kong (it does not follow the Mario formula).

Either Advance Wars, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Tactics Ogre: Knight of Lodis or Fire Emblem: Rekka no Ken. Wow, I can't pick. The GBA was awesome.

For some reason I could never get into Fire Emblem. Too many dang tutorials, yet it never seemed to teach ya anything important.

@Mickeymac I totally understand, actually. I could get into the first one because it was my first time playing a Fire Emblem game and I could handle the tutorials because they did explain its quirks like perma-death, focus on characters instead of "units", etc. Sacred Stones was just a drag because of the repeated and unnecessary hand-holding, which is why I didn't like it as much as the first. IIRC the tutorials were never skippable in either of them.

Metroid Zero Mission, its the only game I constantly keep going back to time and again and have fun each time.

This week, I 'ave been mostly...IV breeding.

If you decide to buy one of the Fire Emblem games (and have never played a Fire Emblem game), then I would recommend starting with the one known simply as "Fire Emblem". This game was made with people new to the series in mind.
However, don't let that fool you into thinking that it will be easier than any of the other Fire Emblem games, because it's not.
It uses one part to show you the ropes, then the rest of the game is tough as raw meat.
Here is a video of basic gameplay in a Fire Emblem game. [youtube:QOt_JeKF9jM] (this is a video from FE6)

Yeah, and in Sacred Stones they were worse in the hand-holdy aspect, spending a whole chapter just telling you how to move and attack. Though I think its tutorial didn't last as long. I didn't get very far in, but I recall that after a few missions it said "if you want to know anything else, please refer to the help menu", or something of the sort.

Of course, to me the best SRPGs keep the Tutorial seperate, or don't have one at all (like Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation 2).
