Topic: Trying to find game for nostalgic reasons

I played a game YEARS ago. Rented it from a video store (remember those!?)
I don't remember the name of it. (to be honest, I'm not even certain it was NES; could have been sega genesis)
This game was a side-scrolling (not forced) platform game.
You were some guy, with a gun of course.
What I remember most is that every bad guy looked the same. I remember they all resembled foot soldiers from TNMT. Btw, the game was NOT TNMT.
However, these bad guys, though they had the same general appearance, came in different colors--red, yellow, white, pink. They would shoot different things depending on their color.
The environment was indoors.
This is all I really remember. Does this ring a bell for anybody? I remember this game being very difficult for me, and I'd like to go back and try to play it.

Hmm, have you tried going through Google / NES catalogues and trying to see if box art or screenshots trigger any memory?

If only you had a certain NES guide book like I do with pictures of every game. Then you would know.

It is definitely not Gunstar Heroes. Rolling Thunder... possibly. But I just played it to test it out, and it is not familiar. Perhaps its just been too long.
