I have had zero luck finding any information on the factory repaired/refurbished NES top loader.
Mine is complete in box all paper work including the sales receipt from Sears.
The proof of purchase sticker and retailer mail in card are complete and unripped on the back of the box in great condition. The new serial number is, NN900027169 and you can clearly see the new proof of purchase sticker is placed over the original sticker.

In this link and honestly the only thing I could find talks more about the changes/improvement Nintendo makes to the existing console. Scroll about half way down and there is a paragraph talking about NN9000* models and the hardware changes Nintendo made to these units.

Does anyone have any experience with these? I recently upgraded to an AVS, and am in the process of thinning some of the larger hardware I have collected over the years to free up space in my rec room and this one of two complete top loaders I have.

Thank-you for your time.

When you get into obscure variants of consoles with a limited production run, there probably won't be much information.
I know there was a boxed version which included Dr. Mario which was labeled as a Target-exclusive, and I think there was a Walmart-exclusive variant which included a different game? Both would probably be quite rare, as I think that was when both chains were regionally-located in the US just before they went national.
(though the PAL top-loader would take top of that list of rare top-loaders. That was an Australia/New Zealand exclusive?)

Thanks for the input, KingMike. I was hoping to hear of others in the wild, NN9000*'s.
Not sure you can call this a variant console as it was Nintendo realizing the audio/video in the nes-101 was subpar and offered a return and upgrade service. I assume mine was the 27,169th unit to be upgraded, so certainly not that rare.
