I am new to refurb/repair. I accidentally broke this little piece off while taking apart an N64 controller. It's a little blue plastic piece with three little points where it was soldered to the underside of the board inside the controller. Number stamped on it reads "2.00M P" Anybody know what this little piece is and what function it serves? And possibly where to find a replacement?
@moolife
Looks like a capacitor. The number printed on it is its value. Not sure what function it serves/served in the controller though, as i don't refurb controllers at all.

A Capacitor only has two legs, one being Anode (+) and the other Cathode (-). So it can't be that.
looks like a 3 pin 2 MHz ceramic resonator with built in capacitor and a 1khz tolerance.
It does seem to be a Ceramic Resonator: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceramic_resonator
The 2.00M on the PCB indicates it's a 2 MHz. I suspect the P stands for "POWER", which is where Pin 1 would go.
How did you get P as 1KHz? I personally just think the letters on the Ceramic Resonator are just manufacturing coding. Plus all the 2.0 MHz I found all have ±0.5 tolerance. So one likes this will be a fine replacement: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10x-CERAMIC-RESONATOR-2-00Mhz-3-PIN...
It's odd the PCB on the controller doesn't state which one is Pin 1. On the component itself with the text facing towards you, is Pin 1.
On the PCB, look for "CLK" (short for clock). Next to R1. Blow "CLK" is "Pin 1", then "Pin 2" and finally "Pin 3".
some pdf I found deep in the depths of the internet.. seems max is 2 kHz if I remember. most where small numbers the1 was the second biggest ill look for link if I saved it might have just saved the pdf.
some advanced crystal technology PDF with al sorts of silly information. (mind you it might not be right) but the closest I found that night.. I was done looking It up.. seems if you replace the analog stick with one from a PlayStation you take the resonator out.
I'm would think if the normal is.5 it will be fine.
that pdf I found was dated 2014.. so who knows if it's true back then. but hunting down some of that stuff is odd. I might have it in me to see if some of my digikey books at work have official charts for it.
