Yeah I know once a game hits a chord with gamers, the inevitable sequel is sure to hit, with basically the same premise the first one had, with very little to add to the formula. Anyway, this topic is for games that never got sequels or could definetely use a reintroduction to a new generation of gamers. I'll get it started: Kung Fu RC Pro Am Pro Wrestling Blades of Steel Battle Toads Double Dragon Double Dribble
Kung Fu was one of the first sidescroller beat'em ups / street brawlers and Double Dragon and Battletoads followed in its footsteps. The VC has Streets of Rage 1-3, Golden Axe 1-3, Final Fight 1-3, Double Dragon, Rival Turf, River City Ransom / Street Gangs, etc. The genre also has plenty of modern 3D games.
Blades of Steel and Double Dribble are just 2 two old - but special - sports games. Good for them. You have them on VC. Modern ice hockey and basketball games won't die out soon.
As for RC Pro Am and Pro Wrestling, there are plenty of overhead racers and wrestling games too and many of them are arguably better than they're 8-bit counterparts.
I don't see the need for any of these to return, as there's plenty available in the genres you mention. I'd want Pro Wrestling and Kung Fu on VC though.
RC Pro am had RC Pro AM 2 but you may have missed that one cause it came out at the end of the NES's lifespan. Battletoads had numerous sequels including a crossover with Double Dragon which also had several sequels.
Also keep in mind that RC Pro Am and Battletoads were both done by Rare so if we do see a sequel it will more than likely be on the Xbox since Microsoft now owns Rare.
As for Double Dragon I know the company that owned the rights to Double Dragon has since gone out of business and I am not sure who has the rights to Double Dragon anyway, for all it could be it those rights could be up in limbo.
Anyway if you want to discuss what franchises should be brought back, there is this thread here to add your ideas.
Digitaloggery 3DS FC: Otaku1 WiiU: 013017970991 Nintendo of Japan niconico community is full of kawaii! Must finish my backlagg or at least get close this year W...
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. If its graphical style was brightened up like in OoT3D and the objectives were more clear, it would be much easier to play.
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver Zone of the Enders Battletoads Otogi Earthworm Jim MDK Landstalker or Alundra Guardian Heroes Panzer Dragoon Saga Dragon Force Astal
Konami needs to remake Snatcher, Hideo Kojima would have to be involved since he was the man behind the original. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snatcher
You are here because the outside world rejects you. THIS is your family. I am your father. I want you all to become full members of the Foot. You are my eyes and ears; find them. Together we will punish these creatures. These... turtles.
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (3DS remake) The World Ends WithYou Pokemon Snap (preferably on a 3DS) Jet Set Radio (I know it has a sequel, but a third game would be nice.) Katamari Damacy (3DS PLEASE!!)
@Sonic260 Um, that game already has a sequel for the Wii, and it was terrible... ¬_¬
Nintendo should remake the original Donkey Kong (with carpenter Mario) in the style of New Mario Bros. Wii. Include power ups, huge levels, etc. That would be awesome.
Well, if you had asked me a year ago, I would have said Luigi's Mansion but as luck would have it...
I guess I would say Pikmin needs a sequel just because it's been announced and pushed back so many different times that I kind of believe the fabled "Pikmin 3" (for (Gamecube... no wait... Wii... No. WiiU) doesn't and will never exist.
