I decided not to download Metroid and F-Zero, or get any games in that series. I've never found those series all that interesting. I barely if ever knew they existed for many years. Metroid just looks like another action/sci-fi game and F-Zero is just another futuristic racing game. Sounds boring.
Earthbound looks like all the other 2D roleplaying games. I'm sure it was a breakthrough for the genre, but I'm so tired of those RPGs after playing every Pokemon game.
Mega Man 1-6 and 9 don't look like much IMO. Mega Man 7 is cool, but I just can't get into the series. I even tried Mega Man X: Command Edition. It sucked.
I still know next to nothing about Fire Emblem.

I'm not blacklisting them, I'm simply not going to bother getting them since they don't seem interesting. I know next to nothing about Fire Emblem, so I'm saying nothing about that.
... and so you want a cookie or a pat on the back for turning your nose up at all of these perfectly good titles you've just rattled off? passing up Earthbound just because you're tired of Pokemon is ludicrous IMO... they're nothing alike. D:
it's your loss, I suppose. :/

Anyway, the Metroid Prime series of games (except for hunters on DS) are simply amazing, and Earthbound is the first game I emulated to completion, and I have never played a better 2D RPG. Admittedly, the VC versions of Metroid are just crap other than for nostalgia reasons, but the GBA ones are good. Megaman 1-6 are okay I guess (only played 1-3 btw) but I wouldn't spend your points on them unless you are rich. If you want to get into Fire Emblem, do not play the GBA versions. They are the most frustrating games in history solely because of a broken save system.
Now, for the million dollar question: why am I responding to this spam? If you can answer that, +1,000,000 cookies for yĆ¼!
My apologies. I have a tendency to not make sense in my posts. This is my absolute final opinion.
Metroid- Super Metroid looks alright, but concerning Metroid Prime onward, I'm not a big fan of FPS. I might get Super Metroid, but it'll take some thought. The first Metroid is too old for my tastes.
F-Zero- I suppose I'll get it. It reminds me somewhat of MegaRace. The tracks actually look awesome. I'm just not used to racing games other than cartoony ones (e.g. Mario) or simulators (e.g. Forza).
Mega Man- I judged the games from my experience with the games, which is a combination of online emulators and the Anniversary Collection. Maybe playing it with the Remote will help. Wish I could play Stinkoman 20X6 with the remote. The seventh edition might be better with the Classic Controller.
Fire Emblem- actually sounds interesting now that I've actually seen gameplay footage.
EarthBound- an interesting concept, but I need to know more about it.
If I say otherwise later, feel free to pelt me with tomatos.

1) Tomatoes is spelled with an e. 2) Super Metroid is horrible. Anyone who tells you otherwise played it back in 1992, and it's the nostalgia talking. The Prime games are brillian, and that is coming from someone who passionately hates FPS. 3) Make sure to get the DS version of Fire Emblem, as the save system isn't broken on that. 4) I strongly recommend you aquire this copy online through legal means wink wink. It will never come to the Virtual console due to the RIAA....
Metroid- I suppose I'll make an exception considering its a sci-fi game, but only the Prime series. Fire Emblem- I'll give it a shot, probably the DS game Mega Man- I'll still wait for Mega Man 7 F-Zero- I'll just get a used copy of GX
7 is one of the worst in the series, it's insultingly easy until the final boss, and the final boss is difficult due to stupid attack patterns and overly-massive megaman sprite. If you start with anything ,start with 5 for NES, as it's one of the easier old-schools, has the best music in the series, and still has the megaman-gameplay without over-enlarging everything, nixing play area, and sleeping during level design.
F-Zero GX used for 5 bucks is like the best value in gaming...put 100s of hours into it and still have 3 Expert story races I can't finish.
Can't say Fire Emblem ever did much for me....never a huge Shining Force fan either--for all the hullaballoo, the battle systems are just slow and repetitive. Fire Emblem's whole "make every move perfectly, or a character instantly dies and you restart the battle if you want all your chars alive" thing just made it too difficult for a perfectionist-gamer like me. If I would've enjoyed the actual playing of it more, maybe I would've slogged through, but tactical games in general just take a bit too long for my comfort...unless they have designs like Knights in the Nightmare and are basically disguised arcade games.

If you are going to get a metroid game I would highly recommend Super Metroid and Metroid Prime 1. Super Metroid is simply the best game in the series IMO, so I would go with that.
