@NEStalgia ahh gotcha missed it was digital. Honestly I'm not sure of the specifics as I've never used it myself, I just remember reading about it.
@DarthNocturnal it is really good. If you liked the first it's improved in almost every way. The pvp news is very disappointing but at least all dlc (for a year at least) will be free!
FWIW this huge XBox sale is fantastic. It's not as big as all the Sony sales combined of the last 6 months, but it does roll up a pretty sizable chunk of their scope. There's a boatload of things interesting me here. Finally got the Wildlands and Witcher sale I wanted. Shame I jumped the gun on FFXV, that's a $20 loss. I'm glad I got the ESO Summerset deal last week.....to get Summerset you still need the full $40 addon anyway. From the little I've seen of it ESO is really cool. It's like a bottomless Skyrim. Maybe it lacks depth, hard to say. I'll miss conversation trees.
Lucky's Tale... is on there. Titanfall 2 Complete for $6??
So I got FFXFV Royal for $45 last week and now it's 25....I knew I should have waited but thought "what's the odds that will be on the sale?!" And @CanisWolfred broke the bad news that's still not the complete game and there's more on the way?! Grr, isn't that like 2 years old now? How are they still not selling a complete game?
It's definitely a complete game at this point. Nothing important is missing from the story.
If you haven't played it at all, now is a good time to play it. The additional DLC they're adding in 2019 will be mostly an addition to the main story, rather than being a necessary part of it.
@NEStalgia Depends on what you're looking for: if you're leaning more towards the full racing sim experience, then take the main series games, so Forza 7 in this case. If you're more into open world go anywhere sim-cade racers (it is somewhat realistic, but has a lot of arcade gameplay, much like The Crew), then spin-off series Forza Horizon is your poison of choice.
I'm having a blast with the Forza Horizon 3 Hot Wheels expansion pack, so if you're curious, just check that out on YouTube. Or scroll a couple of pages back where I posted a video of it...
Aw, scratch that. Here you go:
And another great expansion pack is Blizzard Mountain:
'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'
@NEStalgia Forza Horizon 3 is the best Xbox One game along with Sunset Overdrive, Ori and the Blind Forest and Cuphead.
I find the online racing in Forza Motorsport 7 really old fashioned after playing Gran Turismo Sport (with its excellent driver and sportsmanship mechanics), and the ‘campaign’ is more or less the same as both the fifth and sixth outing and doesn’t offer anything original...
Crackdown 3 being delayed for the third or fourth time comes as no surprise to me!
It always looked rather patchy when the game was being shown, especially at E3 this time last year. Here’s hoping the end product next February is worth the numerous delays.
@NEStalgia Forza Horizon 3 is the best Xbox One game
I've only played the demo and it's already one of the best. I love the concept of a driving game set across huge real world locations. I hope they keep improving on that.
I'd love to see them do something like that with some locations in the US. Like racing along the side of the grand canyon or through monument valley. That'd be awesome.
@ThanosReXXX@DarthNocturnal@Peek-a-boo Technically I'm not a racing fan. I love RPGs, adventures, new places, platforming....racing's always been "meh" . Yet I have GT: Sport, DriveClubVR sitting unopened, The Crew on PS barely touched, and the Forzas I've heard so much about, they make me curious. Of course Watch Dogs, GTA, etc provide tons of racing game play on their own. I enjoyed NFS on WiiU, and I bought the NFS Ultimate bundle on sale last week for $30 on X1......I played Rivals as a PS4 launch (it was meh, but I love NFS as a music discovery tool ) Payback looked interesting at E3 last year despite poor reviews. More like an action adventure using cars than a racing game I guess like Mad Max without guns?
GT Sport I've heard was a step back from prior GT in terms of control. I heard even DriveClub did some stuff better. The Crew controls horribly, like Watch Dogs But it's a neat environment. I don't really "get" the difference between "sim" and "simcade"....they all seem sim-ish to me.
Hot Wheels is intriguing. More than "features this exotic supercar now!" Exotic supercars are uninteresting to me. But I don't really know what separates the main series "sims" from the "arcade" spinoff, honestly.
For the "arcade" one, how does Horizon 3 compare to Crew, and modern open NFS?
It was a joke anyways, but I guess not a really funny one...also, I stopped going to the "all encompassing" threads years ago for the obvious reason that I don't have infinite time to follow a thread that moves at hyper speed...
Here's my updated Xbox E3 predictions in order, just my opinions and guesses don't skewer me:
[ ] Forza horizon 4, Asian setting maybe Hong Kong or Tokyo. They debut a halo car on stage as they've done in the past.
[ ] SoT and SoD2 free dlc/updates. Both released to very very mediocre receptions but I don't think they're giving up on them and will improve over time. Want to reward those who did pick them up
[ ] Crackdown 3 delay to February 12th 2019, get the bad news out of the way early. Looks decent but is groan enducing
[ ] Gears 5 or Halo 6 teaser(see next point)
[ ] Halo battle royale or Gears BR. I see them coming out with a spinoff BR of one franchise and announcing a direct sequel to the other.
[ ] This is where the lull happens. Another super consumer friendly service a la game pass/ea access. Maybe combining game pass into live as I've seen rumored
[ ] Sizzle reel of more new beloved BC games from last 2 gens
[ ] New pubg map/mode
[ ] Customizable consoles you can order/design just like the controllers. Can send in your current one to be customized.
[ ] Peripheral hardware announcement. Maybe Some AR headset or emergent tech that will look cool on the stream but won't set the world ablaze
[ ] Updates and release dates for games announced already Ori, Deep Rock etc
[ ] Indie spotlight
[ ] Cuphead Expansion/dlc
[ ] A kid friendly game 3rd party exclusive like a 2d/3d platformer or a Mario/Rabbids level out of nowhere game. 2019 release
[ ] Extended look at 2 or 3 AAA 3rd party game we already know about that they have marketing right to. Splinter Cell, Rage 2, Anthem, Metro etc something that's already been revealed we get more gameplay here though
[ ] Fable Teaser
[ ] Deep dive into Cyberpunk 2077
[ ] Fin
Some notes:
*One of these will be a "beta available now" moments
*I see the conference being solid overall but poorly received by press/fans. Much like xbox one sales. They're good in the grand scheme, but they're going against record setters so it makes them look poor in comparison in the public eye.
LOL just realized I pegged that Crackdown delay almost perfectly 😉
Also a new wheel leaked for the Xbox, there's your hardware!
@NEStalgia GT sport handles extremely well, just is suuuuuch a departure from what GT has been over the years. Driveclub became a fantastic racer, one of if not the best on the ps4. Loads of content esp with the season pass. I think the Crew handles decently. Not a benchmark at all but not as bad as people make it out to be and for sure better than watch dogs. NFS payback is good, played for maybe about 40 hours and felt I got my money's worth out of it.
There's no point in having a duke controller wheel unless they're announcing OG Xbox racing backwards compatibility titles at E3. Maybe PGR is possible?
@NEStalgia Sounds to me like Forza Horizon is the one for you. Main series Forza is all about winning races, and seasons, expanding your car collection and rising in the ranks, and that doesn't happen if you're not really into it. It takes some dedication and time to hone your skills so you can indeed climb that ladder.
With Horizon, there is still that competitive part, as well as the car collecting, but it's all at your own pace, and because it's open world instead of track-based, you can do things in any order that you like.
Concerning the difference between the other games you named: Forza in my opinion is WAY over the top, so more "arcadey" than these other series/titles. In the main Forza Horizon game itself, you already have to do crazy stuff like race an express train to the finish, and find secret cars hidden away in barns all across the map, and then race with them over all kinds of terrains to actually become the owner of them, and so much more other highly diverse objectives.
And the Hot Wheels expansion not only gives you the actual Hot Wheels cars to drive, but also lets you drive all the tracks available in the actual physical Hot Wheels packs that you can buy. Loopings, crazy jumps, turbo tracks, dinosaurs, underwater tracks, you name it.
And then there's Blizzard Mountain: at one point, you'll be racing ahead of avalanches and what not, so it's really over the top, but in a good way. And it's a nice game to quickly jump into, if you only want to drive around for a bit or to do a couple of quick assignments and win another car or unlock another region. No need in Horizon to constantly keep racing/playing to keep up with the game and the races/seasons.
And that is basically also why I made the distinction between main series Forza being a true sim racer, and the Forza Horizon spin-off series being the more arcadey version of the game.
@CanisWolfred Yeah, I can understand that. I'm trying to follow the E3 thread, but it has about 2 pages of posts a day, often not all that spectacular, so it's not always that interesting to follow. But we try...

Maybe Burnout 1-3? 3 is still up on the 360 store so can't be too tricky to give those 3 a polish and put on XBONE.
