I didn't see a thread like this so I thought I would put one here...definitely one of my favorite PC games
So use this thread to share tips, tricks, and secrets here.
Here's a tip:hold down tab in the creature creator to reorient a detail.
Also share cool creations.
Have fun!
(for those who don't know what the game is http://www.spore.com/what )

The ds and wii ones were terrible, but I thought the one for pc was pretty cool.

It could have been brilliant, but instead, it's a collection of 5 weak minigames.

The cell stage - where you direct your cell around the "primordial soup" to devour cells to grow is so much like a mobile phone game, they released a better version for mobile phones. The creature stage asks you to explore the planet, meeting other creatures, and either attack them or befriend them (you only need to take out three). Once you've taken care of about 20 races, you can advance to the Tribal Stage, and the Civilization Stage. They're both the same, except, where in the Tribal stage, you're armed with axes and bows and maracas, in the Civilization Stage, you're armed with tanks and planes.

The Civilization stage where you build a city (and from the makers of THE city building game worth playing) is complete trash. Basically, you have a centre, and you place up to 10 buildings around it in a circle. No taxes, no ordinances, just a factory to build tank after tank to zergrush the opposing cities. You can build theatres to prevent capitulation, but if you've got enough planes, you can take out your foes' cities one by one.

The Space Stage from what I've played so far is quite interesting, and if it weren't for the fact that your asked to spread throughout the entire universe (while protecting your territories) with one spaceship, and that the task of earning credits was not so unintuitive (credits are earned in part through spice production, but in order to reap the harvests, you have to visit each planet in person).

However, there's a lot to do, which ties into your creature's traits you set throughout the game. You can buy out solar systems, you can terraform planets, turning a ball of fire and gas into a green planet, then individually (by species) populate the planet with plants, then trees, then herbivores, then carnivores and/or omnivores and you can paint the skies purple, and the grass red.

You can zip around in your spaceship and burn small animals with your lasers, destroy fledgling civilisations (by zapping them to oblivion, or if you're lazy, turning the heat dial up and the atmosphere dial down), you can abduct creatures, study them and name them, you can even fling them into the ground.

But you're just one ship, and it's not an easy task to run an empire with just that ship. The creator tools are the best thing about it, but the novelty soon wears thin for me.

Here are some low resolution pictures of two of my creatures. Both were played as pacifists:
