Topic: Should I buy a PS5 Pro in 2026?

I haven't got the money to buy a new PC or to upgrade anytime soon and the general consensus seems to be that we won't see a PS6 until 2029 at the earliest.
So the only way I'm going to be able to play all the big games GTA 6 etc seems to be with Sony's machine... Do you think it's worth it? I have found a reasonable deal online, a 2TB digital slim edition for £619 I don't know how much the games are going for especially since would have to buy them from Sony's own shop and if you would have to keep deleting them to add more now that file sizes have gotten so huge.
Am I wasting my money or is there a deal to be had here.

If you have the money I guess a PS5 Pro is worth it but I still say what the base PS5 puts out is more than adequate and it only cost a lot less $. You can also get a slim model with a disc drive already attached, if physical games are important to you, it's another $80 to get one to add to a Pro.

Well, I've gone ahead and bought it, time will tell if it turns out to be a waste of money or not. I would've kinda liked a disc drive but I'm not paying any more money for one.

We're still a couple or few years away from PS6.

If you've got the disposable funds, why not splurge?

Or you bank it because the PS6 will probably start at $800.

Switch Physical Collection - 1,561 games (as of April 18th, 2026)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)

@Magician

Splurge is a good word and that's exactly what I did..

I think I'm probably a victim though of what George Carlin said about 'stuff'

There just isn't enough games for me to justify the upgrade. I haven't used my PS5 for months now.

I've a feeling that i'll be playing mostly remakes, upgrades and indie games when mine finally arrives.
