Well I have always liked Harvest Moon even though I have only played the first game on SNES and one of the ones on PS2 I think it was called Save the Homeland. I have never played Rune Factory. So I guess I would have to go with Harvest Moon.

@MattEriks Everyone on this site is too hardcore to play these little farm games. But if we weren't, I would say Rune Factory is better. In Rune Factory you can do everything you do in Harvest Moon and more.

Thins guy knows whats up, Animal Crossing is much more manly.
I've always liked both, though I grew up with Harvest moon. I like the characters and setting better though everything feels less bland in Rune Factory. The dungeon crawling and RPG elements break up the pace and keep things interesting longer, I've found that at some point most Harvest moon games get too easy and mundane as you get farther. I would have liked the normal livestock to have at least remained an option and the renovations could have been done better. One thing I didn't like about RF3 was the three upgraded itself and everything was too easy to get, it felt like the game just handed me the upgrades.
Animal Parade and RF3 are still my favorite games in the series so far.
