In order for us to get free games (Or I should say you, since I'm in NA), PSN has to come back up, which isn't happening when they said it would, which was supposed to be this week.

they still have 47.5 hours in my time zone. The sony servers are in the west coast though so 50.5 hours for them.

Considering Sony said it was delayed until an unspecified time, $20 says it'll be more than 50 or so hours

See? This is why retail games are better than downloading games. Even if PSN or Xbox Live went down, at least you still have your retail games if you cannot play your downloadable games for some reason. No wonder the PSP Go is being discontinued (in Europe at least).

Downloadable games will grow in popularity once people stop spreading misinformation about them.

You cannot play XBLA games online if you are playing them on another 360 console. I cannot play some of my XBLA games that I have purchased on my first 360 (which died due to RROD) offline (they are reduced to demos) on my second 360 and I can only play them in full form online. You can also not play Final Fight: Double Impact without being online on either PSN or XBLA.

My point is at least with retail you can play your games whenever you want. But with downloadable games, sometimes that is not the case. I still love downloadable games, but I also still prefer retail.

That is also not always true of your retail boxed games.

You can do a license transfer on your 360 that will allow you to play all of your XBLA games offline.

Anyone know if it's true that Sony will be fined $1 billion by the UK?

do they get both the PS3 and the PSP games? if so, that's awesome

oh yeah and if I just happen to have a spare EU account on my PS3 I wonder if I'd get them >:3

Sony will think you are a hacker and banish you if their security is up to scratch.

And awesome...but I don't know what games I will like to obtain when it does go up.

Games that have to be played online can be downloadable or disc-based. It has nothing to do with how you obtained them. As far as playing already obtained games, PSN's demise does nothing to make one kind of game worse off than the other. The only disadvantage particular to downloadable content right now is that new content cannot be obtained until the day when PSN rises again.

I hope I can remember what email my UK and JP accounts were registered under. Of course, no telling if that short list of games on offer will be anything that I wanted, but free is free.

How will Sony pay me for the damages and loss of life/family as a result of the PSN being down? Is that part of their "Welcome Back" package?

Yep once the PSN is back up they are giving all subscribers some kind of package deal for their inconvenience.

Man, I really hate to think how much this whole fiasco has cost Sony.

Thank God. I just buried my uncle today who fell victim to the withdrawal of no access of the PSN, only to read that it's just NOW coming back up?

I'm glad you all think it's exciting, but the rest of the world is still reeling over the sheer impact it has caused millions of families and individuals worldwide.

... i'm hoping this is just a really bad joke, but if it's not, my condolences.

Even with PSN being back up I think I'm still going to play Twilight Princess.

Sony is giving everyone a free month of PSN Plus and for Plus users an extra day for every day the network has been down. In the end Plus users wont be losing their money, lol.
