Topic: PS3 Yellow Light Advice?

We were about to play Assassin's Creed on our PS3 tonight, but when we tried to turn it on, a yellow light flashed and the PS3 shut off. I realize that this yellow light is the equivilant of the RROD on the Xbox 360 and I'm pretty sure my warranty has expired on it. We've never had this problem before and I'd hate to pay 150 bucks to get it repaired. Are there any other options or am I screwed?

Hmmm, its actually pretty rare for that to happen. Have you tried calling Sony yet? I read somewhere that its not always screwed up if you get a yellow light.

Is there a possibility that an overheated console can cool overnight? It's kind of a stupid question but I know nothing about this.

The yellow light of dead is an increasingly common problem, specially for launch PS3s, and since Sony's warranty is only 1 year, ou can either throw your PS3 out of the Window, or pay to get it repaired...

I doubt is simple overheating... as I understand, the Yellow Light indicates a general hardware failure (Something failed, the PS3 can't tell what was the problem), but you lose nothing by trying.... BUT be warned, if it works again, it will fail again sooner or later
