Yeah it's heaps like Zelda. You will see when you play it a bit more. Awesome game though. One of favourite PS3 games. Looking forward to the sequel this year.
It's definitely not Resident Evil. I'm going through it on Veteran with a friend. The camera angles are annoying, the tank controls drive me insane, and the storyline doesn't grab me. Thank god I'm only borrowing it.
Just for you. "I'm just a musical prostitute, my dear." - Freddie Mercury
The Dungeon formula once you get into the game is exactly like a zelda game. Lots of puzzles and chest around, Get item after killing mini boss than use said item too kill boss. rinse repeat.
I just got to the gate where War meets Samael for the first time. I'm pretty early in the game. So far I haven't seen many Zelda elements at all, it's all just hack-and-slash.
Yeah your not their yet. Soon the game is going to become very Zelda-esque.
To anyone who has played and beaten Darksiders:
Is there an actual overworld to explore? Or is it just "running down a linear path" like in God of War or Devil May Cry?
Little bit of Syphon Filter knowledge from an old fan. The series first release was released before the PSone dual analogue controller, so that is why the controls are crazy and the game uses and auto aim feature. When Syphon Filter 2 came out, even with the dual analog controls, the right analog stick still wasn't used for turning the camera like we are so used to today. Back when the games released, they were some of the hottest shooters on the market and got very high scores all around. But, as most all of the PSone game's, they haven't aged well at all. Stick with the PSP games and also pass on the average Syphon Filter game on the PS2 as well.
Darksiders was indeed heavily inspired by Zelda and is likely one of the big reasons that it's being so hyped on the Wii U.
Ok now I'm starting to see some Zelda references. The collectibles, expandable life bar (skulls instead of hearts), and map are all taken from Zelda. But the game still seems mainly inspired by God of War, in terms of combat mechanics.
If you guys want an easy Platinum, try Cabela's Adventure Camp. In my playtime for the review, it took me about two solid hours to net the Platinum Trophy.

Yeah I've never gotten a Platiunum trophy yet either. Saying that, I haven't really bothered. The closest I am is on Darksiders- just need to beat it on Apocalypse difficulty.

Ha! I just downloaded Darksiders on PSN. It's a pretty fun God of War & Zelda clone.
I don't care about getting Trophies or Achievements. I play games for the experience and fun factor.
Well here's my two cents on War for Cybertron thus far.
Well I went into it without expecting it to be grand and I played a little at my brothers, so I was somewhat aware of what I was getting into. And what I've come to is... I like it. No I like it a lot! Growing up with Transformers (watched g2/g1 on t.v. as a kid) and watched every series till the end of Transformers Energon (was going through that trying to be cool phase...) but no series ever came close to being as amazing as Transformers G1.
But this game. This game manages to take G1 and bring it into a new era.
And also, since me and my brother now own a copy we get to play co-op and online vs. mode together. Which just makes the experience that much better since we both loved the show.
I can safely say, it is the best transformers game I've ever played and The best shooter I've ever played.
