bleep bleep bloop... it's time for another round of sound FX from the world of video games. A few months ago we did this for the first time, and with all the positive feedback it was clear I'd eventually do it again.
Warning - this riddle is especially difficult... again. Even if you only recognise two or three titles, just participate regardless. Keep in mind it will be like that for all players, even the winners had lots of gaps last time.
As I can't post sound effects in this Forum (the picture at the bottom is just a dummy), I have outsourced the quiz.
I only know 6 of those. I guessed randomly at a couple of others but I had no idea on most of them. (The first time I did it I accidentally submitted after only answering 2 of them, so please ignore that one)
Alright folks, time to go home - every title has already been found out. Every single one, really!
Oh, and does anybody have full points? Not even close!
No one is even close to the 20-points-mark, and the average score (21 people so far) is clearly below ten. Great chance to get into a top 10 position, everybody!
Let me help you a little, here are a few clues...
1) No games from the first sound quiz (click "back" on the quiz page) are repeated in this one.
2) Two sounds in this riddle are not from games, but from a console itself.
4) Title number 6 is a noise from the antagonists of a science fiction series.
5) Sound 15 is a C64 game, the speech sample shows two of the just 15 digitised words in the game.
6) The 17 is the level up sound of a famous fantasy game.
7) The games 4, 9, 13, 19 und 24 are first person shooters.
4) Sound 11 is a speaker message from a totalitarian regime.
5) And at last... the jingle of game 10 (an old platformer) is played at the start of each level.
.
.
.
That's it - now you're on your own. Good luck, you've got time until Tuesday.
Alright, 55 people joined the party - nice! Especially given that with an average score of 9.67, this riddle was about as hard as the first sound quiz.
No one achieved full points, but still there is a clear winner...
The scoretable comes at the end of this post, first we have the names of the games as text, then as images.

So, it's time for a more pixelated quiz... this time you have to guess some twentyfive 2D games, mostly classics - but you only have the zoomed-in faces of the main protagonists to work with.
I hope that's to your liking - the poll in the last round showed a clear win for this type of quiz.
I wish you luck - and don't forget: the correct answer is the name of the game, not the character.
Hey, November is already half over? Did you all join the quiz yet and solved every last pixel there is??
So far there are 21 participants, one of them from this community.
Here are some hints, to help with the hardest titles and most common mistakes:
1) game Nr.2 is a racing game. 2) number 7 is a scifi strategy game from the current decade. 3) title #17 is an Amiga game, a rather generic 90s platformer (solved by no one!). 4) with the 18 we see the first installment of a famous RPG series (solved by no one!). 5) and at last - game 21 is about a famous civil war.
I wish you good fortune, and don't forget: the correct answer is the name of the game, not the character!
Everybody watch out, the quiz is almost over! Many people from many different places already joined (current newcomers are the communities from ResetEra, Retrogamer and the English Amiga Board)... while every game has been found out, we are still waiting for someone to score full points... a place in the top 10 can be had from 13 points onwards.
So far there are 40 participants in total, and two from here.
Here are the last hints - hope that helps!
1) In game nr.5 you control a squirrel in a platformer. 2) In the puzzle adventure on image nr.12 you control several goblin characters, all of which have different abilities. 3) Number 14 has you drive a tank, which you can also leave to walk around as a foot soldier. 4) The name of game 17 consists of three words, two of which start with an M. 5) Mea Culpa to image 18 - this japanese RPG confused me with its "right-to-left" direction: the displayed character is not the player, but just an enemy! This makes this game unnecessary hard to get right... by the way, there was recently a spin off to this series released on the Switch.
Good luck, and don't forget: the correct answer is the name of the game, not the character!
Once again a quiz has ended... there is an interesting development: with the addition of the communities of Retrogamer, ResetEra and the English Amiga Board, there are now 40% english speakers among the 64 participants. Maybe it is time I update the google form to feature an even split between English and German.

The theme of the month is "knights"... so put on your armor, draw your swords and let's do this.
Here is a general FAQ to this image quiz series:
to participate you click on the link in this post, it leads to a google form. There you can give your best to figure out the names of the 25 games shown in the quiz image.
if you want to change or update your entry, no problem. Just open the google form again, enter username+forum, and then leave everything blank except for your updates. Once the deadline has passed, all entries with the same user+forum combo will je joined.
the winner is the user with the highest score. If there are several people who got all 25 games right, the winner is the one who sent in the earliest.
If there is a draw with lower scores, I use "weighted" points. This means that a game that has rarely been found out is worth more than a simple title which almost everyone has gotten right.
So, it's christmas soon... hope you're not too disappointed, but the only presents I am bringing today are some clues for the current "knights" quiz. Here we go!
1) the knights on the pictures 1, 19 and 25 are all called "Arthur".
2) title 9 doesn't show the original version of this rpg, but instead a graphics mod (my mistake)... the interface visible in the upper end is still the same though.
3) one franchise shows up twice in this quiz.
4) images #13 and #15 are not ingame scenes, but instead show the cover.
5) with glasses and hair loss... the sword fighter on picture 21 is my favorite
In total we currently have 70 participants, two of which are from this community.
Wow, look at all these people - with 90 participants (of which two are from this community) this is already the biggest round of all time!
This is partly due to the "old maniac forum", where the mods are handing out amazon vouchers to the winners to give something back to the community (a server-financing promotion had gone much better than expected)... but of course the other communities were very active as well.
Watch out - the december quiz ends on new year (UK time), so sunday night!
Here are the very last clues... don't forget to participate or update your existing entries.
1) The number 2 is a well known action game from the first person perspective.
2) the knights in game 7 and 22 are both called "Lancelot"
3) The 25 is a graphic adventure from a time before "point & click" - here we are still using old fasioned text entry.
4) Those who name a Dreamcast game for number 6 will only get half the point.
5) The 18 is a strategy game from a german developer.
One last thing: Usually I give half points for vague or half-wrong names, but I got things mixed up for number 4 & 12 - those two will now get you full points even if you're only half right. The same goes for game 17 - that's a really big series, you don't need to find out the exact installment.
Please participate via www.nerdquiz.de, deadline is Sunday December 31st.
I am blown away - more than a hundred people joined this time! Of course that's due to the amazon vouchers for the winners in the "maniac forum", but many of you other communities were also quite active.
In the next days there will also be a big results post for the entire year of 2017.

hello everyone, wheeeee it continues: gaming quizzes for the year 2018! Ten times you'll get the chance to be NUMBER ONE among all these gaming nerds, and to score points for yourself and your forum.
We start with a Wunschkonzert... wait whats a "Wunschkonzert"?! Well it was a popular concert show long ago, where they'd play what you asked for. Just like this quiz! Every title has been a wish from a user in the last Wunschkonzert.
So I filtered a bit, but otherwise had no hand in the games you have to find out this time.
All clear?
There is a wild mix of games going on... from the 1980s to all the way to 2016. More Windows PC games than usual - please use the form to enter games you like, so the next Wunschkonzert is more to your liking.
