@Pizzamorg I played World for the first time a few months ago and found the experience to be much the same there in terms of difficulty. Barely bothered with trying to make good gear as all the armour felt like it sucks anyway and I had no good decorations to even think about trying to make a decent set with but I still got to the end of the High rank without feeling like I was challenged at all. Never got around to playing the Iceborne stuff.

Overall I would rank the MH games I've played as: Everything pre-World > Rise > Wilds > World

Yeah if you play World today you're given the Guardian Armour that allows you to blast through low rank, but we sadly didn't have this at launch 😂

Then I bow to your mastery of the game.

Out of the three modern ones, I felt like World was the hardest base game and by a significant margin. Then Sunbreak was significantly harder than Iceborne and now Wilds is easier by an astronomical leap out of any of the three base games.

My thoughts so far...

Don't get me wrong Wilds is still tons of fun, but to me I'd put World above it. Wilds railroads you like I've dreaded happening for so long as so many AAA games do now. Slow riding on a Seikret, can't go off path or speed up, just set controller down and wait. It also automatically navigates to monster. I was torn on Rise always showing monsters on map but it was a portable title and you still had to manually find them. This game you can set the controller down and eat a bag of chips while it just takes you there. Ruins exploration and learning the maps. I initially disliked scout flies but they grew on me. Tracking was fun. They should have brought back same system and when you level up to 3 then it automatically takes you to the monster. Such an easy fix.

I like the new slinger gathering mechanic but because every item needed is provided on the auto paths you never need to explore for gathering either, or ever veer off the auto path whatsoever. And the difficulty is like half that of Rise Village Rank which was already too easy, at least for the first half anyways. Gaijin Hunter comparison showed 66% more damage from a Rathalos fireball in Rise wearing leather armor, though there are other aspects besides damage which contribute to the issue.

The weather system is inconsequential, performance on PC is worse than Rise on Switch, and the story with the kid is insufferable. "I understand it"... oh he bugs me so much. Zip it kid, we're monster hunters. Hunting is what we do. They also removed meals before setting out on a quest and the zany felynes that would feed you. I know I've said this about previous games but Wilds streamlines too much at the expense of the gameplay hook.

Also, I don't understand the open world approach. It's basically still separate maps just connected by a thin corridor without loading. Never use it. Fast travel is far more efficient. Should have stuck with separate area maps like World. Would've helped performance, surely.

The wound system I love though, especially with gyro. And the fighting is as fun as ever. Handler is much better this time around too. In fact I like most characters, barring Kid Brat.

It's just not enough to save it from all it's other issues. I regret to say I've lost my excitement at the prospect of a Switch 2 port. Think I'd rather just replay Rise + Sunbreak or World + Iceborn.

My brother tells me it gets better in HR without the irritating story and excessive cut scenes and railroading present in LR. Difficulty is challenging in latter half too. Might be enough to tip the scales for me. Maybe others can confirm whether that's the case.

Despite all my complaints I did have lots of fun playing so far. Which is a testament to how fun MH is. But doesn't change the fact I've fallen off and quit playing already from disinterest. Something about Wilds is just... off. Doesn't feel like a generational leap from World. Doesn't even feel like a side step. It feels like a step backward. They need to re-evaluate how far they're willing to go in the name of accessibility. Cause if their next game is like Wilds, I'm afraid I may finally bow out of the series. At least we have World and Rise. That can never be taken from us.

Recommended Tip: Change felyne language in settings to Felyne. Them speaking English is weird.

@JaxonH You can disable the auto-pilot for Sekrets in the settings. I turned it off because I rather have the approach that was there with Palamutes.

I wouldn't get your hopes up for difficulty in High Rank. Towards the end of that, and it's genuinely easy imo. It's about the same difficulty level you'd really expect from Low Rank content in other Monster Hunter games. Especially if you keep up to date with your armor loadout and decorations.

Also there was never really any hope for a Switch 2 port in the first place really. The game barely runs on current gen, and wouldn't run on a console that's a generation behind the PS5, XBOX, and super well equipped Gaming rigs.

@Magician Kinda sad to see that Title Update 2 is probably where they're going to bring in Player Housing. Wish they would've just dropped it into this update.

Servers are going offline for routine maintenance tonight ahead of the title update.

Will have to wait until after work tomorrow to play I guess.

A two-piece Zoh Shia set allows me to slot 5 WEX and 5 Agitator, which is cool I guess.

Got the mini and gold crown for Mizutsune.

Just...waiting for Arch-tempered Rey Dau at the end of the month.

Title update 2...coming in the summer. June, July, August?

That 4-piece Zoh Shia set bonus is cozy. Passively heal 1hp per second. Boosted further by Recover Up. Although there isn't much room for a lot of utility decorations after you slot WEX and Maximum Might.

The all white Zoh Shia armour and dual blades are so clean. Absolutely unreal looking.

@Kairuu

Absolutely.

I appreciate how the alpha and beta pieces were equally divided between fallen angel and high angel.

@Magician Yeah, I thought that was a nice touch. They both look fantastic when you mix them in the right way. The all-white set just looked too good.

I can't wait until the layered weapons arrive so I can change my Artian dual blades to match the Zoh Shia armour.

Kind of a nothing week for tomorrow's weekly reset. A handful of event quests with a couple armor sets for layered armor fashion.

Arch Tempered Rey Dau drops on April 29th at the weekly reset time of 7pm CST. His layered armor looks pretty dope. But since it's a Latent Power-heavy set, I wouldn't qualify it as meta-changing either.

Title Update 2 is listed for Summer, which is between June and August. So it feels as though Wilds is in a holding pattern for a solid one to four months.

Fought Arch Tempered Rey Dau a few times last night. Best monster fight of the game so far. One time I got lazy. Waiting on the opposite side of a pitfall trap. He sniped me once, followed it up with another ranged attack which put me in stun, and wing slammed me into carting.

RIP, lol.

Got the complete armor set. Aside from his arms having two 3-slots and two levels of evade extender, the rest of his armor skills aren't for the weapons I'm using. I guess this officially puts the game in ice for me, until Title Update 2. Sometime in June or later.

I forgot about the Capcom collaboration monster coming at the end of May.

Well at least that's something to do until TU2.

Well, this is exciting. Summer update coming before the end of the June. I was assuming late July or early August. Anywho, I'm really excited for layered weapons. I'm tired of my all-green gear to match my artian weapon.
