Went through the character creator and played the introduction quest for the beta. Took about an hour. Pretty amazing. It has the looks of World but also includes the QoL comforts of Rise. The only hiccup is that you're better off playing in Quality Mode rather than Performance Mode; you lose so much fidelity for so little back in framerate.

The game plays pretty well on PC- but there's a ton of hiccups depending on your machine. Some people have issues with the graphics looking like they crawled out of a PS1 game. I haven't had those issues honestly, and the game looks as it should for me- but I noticed that Frame Gen actually causes the game to have worse performance on my machine than with the tech disabled.
As for the game itself, it looks better than World imo. The character models especially. It's nice to have a ton of customizability for the protagonist in this one- and on top of that it's nice that the character models look as they should outside of the character creator. Something that wasn't really the case with Rise or World, where they looked a bit off outside of the creator. I also like how you can actually switch between the "male" armor and "Female" armor pieces. Enables for your character to have whatever fashion choices you want them to have. No longer are pieces that look better locked behind the other sex.
As for the monsters, I honestly enjoy how hunting feels now. Not so sure about the Sekret being on auto-piolet constantly, but I love how the monsters actually feel like living breathing animals. How Doshaguma actually pack-hunts, and how all the monsters in the game pretty much have their own behaviors. Even down to the smaller endemic life.

The game is amazing. I don't mind playing in quality mode - there's more MonHan games I played in 30fps than not anyway - and the weapons feel SO good to use. I also enjoy the new monsters, they're much more creative than World's flavors of lizards and clones, already.
I'm gonna be a bit sad when I can't hop into the beta to hunt a monster or two while trying a new weapon but I cannot wait for march. That **** is gonna be good, Capcom are cooking.
Also...I'm ALMOST considering getting a Pro for this. Maybe. I'll have to see how much better it runs. If it looks the same as on base PS5 but at a SOLID 60fps,I'd be willing to drop that money on one. If it doesn't I'm more than fine with what I've played the past 11 hours of gameplay lol
35 hours played. Hunter rank 40. It took me around sixteen hours to play through the story. As I expected, Wilds is a nice blend of Worlds and Rise, which is great. Because I would hate to navigate these biomes without a seikret.

The game is super fun. My PC was overheating slightly because of dust build-up that I didn't clean. It runs smoothly now that I cleaned the dust out of my machine though.

I was naively hoping that the Steamdeck might be able to chug along... overall internet consensus says otherwise! Gutted, but to be expected. Will stick with Rise/World for now
@Ralizah I mean to be fair, I don't know why people were expecting it to run on Steamdeck in the first place. The hardware in the thing is starting to age, and Wilds is a heavy game in general. Even if Wilds were better optimized, the game would probably not run very well on Steamdeck.
I'm 43 hours into the game and about ready to drop it entirely and move onto other things I think. Haven't been too impressed by the game overall. Story was a slog because it was more cutscene than gameplay and the end game at this stage is way too lacking and armour set building options are way too limited.
@VoidofLight Yeah it was always a high case of naive optimism regarding the Deck… but I fairness, it does run some recent games well (Elden Ring, Cyberpunk, Red Dead 2 etc… even Baldurs 3 is pretty playable IMO)
I heard even the PS5 Pro(!) is struggling to get decent performance though. So the deck was never going to prevail
@VoidofLight It's a sloppily programmed game that struggles on everything due to issues with its coding and a poor implementation of an engine that was never meant to be used for more open titles like this. One of their beta updates actually nuked its ability to run on certain AMD GPUs lol. And this is for a game that's visually rather unimpressive and had some truly bad texture work in the environments.
As for Steam Deck, it runs... basically everything adequately, with compromises. The only games I've seen have major issues are ones that are horrendously optimized or programmed in the first place.
PC port was clearly rushed because Capcom were falling short of their annual revenue target to report to shareholders. Normally the PC version would've arrived six to nine months after the console launch. But...money talks.

Wasn't only the PC version that was rushed going by how buggy the game is. Like so many equipment skills don't even work properly or at all in some cases.
