I just beat the tree boss (took me four tries) and I was impressed. You still have a lot of work to do with the graphics, but it's pretty awesome and I'm looking forward to the full game. By the way, I think when you release the full game one of the NL Team should review it!

@Danny - thanks man...I'm surprised it feels more like Metroid--while making it I felt like I was affixing more of the Castlevania/Faxanadu formula than the Metroid formula...not at all angry at the comparison though

@Lu - glad you beat it man! The tree can definitely be kinda mean...once you get the "tree blinks, then you move/jump" timing down he gets a lot easier...on hard (not implemented in the demo) he spams the roots with less downtime, the roots are faster, and the apple-drops actually have patterns. He also swipes at you if you get too close to him, and each time his root grabs you from the bottom tier, you lose your Fire Sword upgrade.

you may want to add an alternative function for jumping on roaps it's difficult getting out of the hole where you introduce them.

@armored - what about it is giving you trouble? My intention with that part was to get people used to jumping off of the rope with enough vertical space not to hit the ceiling--that mechanic is needed for the hidden key in the upcoming part, and in a lot of the later sections of the game. Try jumping from a bit lower on the rope--the jump shouldn't be too bad.

I'm in SonicMaster's boat. I don't have access to a Windows comp right now - I'm marooned on a Mac. Bummer, I was looking forward to playing it man! You should port it to SDL so it'll build cross platform, lol.

SDL porting isn't an option w/ mmf....flash exporting is, but i'd need both the new version and the flash exporter and that's like 400 bucks that I don't have.

Ah, Multimedia Fusion. I used one of the predecessors to that when I was a young 'un. Fun times.

Haven't had time to play it but I have downloaded and I will check it out once I have more free time.

@Holy - Klik and Play? If so, I was using that in elementary school Soooo inferior to the modern versions, not that they're the end-all to the universe or anything. They're great for quick design without all the underlying garbage though, and I love them for that.

try emailing someone at Armor Games, maybe you can get it on the site. oh and i recommend you come up with a different title. no offense, but i see a lot of games that include the word "quest" or "monsters" in them, and after a while i just tend to ignore those type of games since they all have a similar premise

@Swerd Yeah, Klik & Play! What a horrible little program that was. But it was awesome and easy to use for a kid. I've come a long way since then, haha...

@Swerd_Murd I didn't even know about the blinking thing, I just continually jumped while I played, lol! Thanks for the tips though.

So sorry to resurrect a semi-dead thread, but I figure this is the best place to post this...

My hard drive crashed tonight, in somewhat of a cataclysmic fashion. I'm pretty sure the last QAM build I backed up was several months ago, so barring insane luck and an inhuman desire to recreate months of graphics and programming, the program probably won't ever advance beyond the demo you played here.

Sorry guys...I lost a lot of stuff tonight...I'd say back to the drawing board but it's gonna be a while before I work on another personal project...heart's just not in it atm.

@Swerd: I feel for you man... a few years ago my computer went berserk, and I lost a couple years' worth of programs.

Edit: Just watched that vid, and that was pretty impressive man. You should start over and maybe try a new theme or something. :3

One of these days.... My current game plan is just to get my mind away from it for a while...make some music for a while or something...anything that allows me not to dwell on how infuriated i am that I didn't back up my computer more recently.
