Topic: Great voice acting in video games

I haven't played so many video games with good voice acting. Only ones that I can remember right now are Darksiders, Fallout: New Vegas, Mass Effect and Borderlands. It is easier for me to remember bad voice acting (I will never ever forget Emil's voice acting in Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World). And of course Mario and Link have always had great voice actors .

I usually don't have a problem with voice acting, unless it's like in the games like Psychonauts, Crash bandicoot and similar. Many cartoonish western games have unbelievebaly annoying voice acting and characters, which for me ruins the whole experience. Exceptionally good voice acting? First two series that comes into mind are Metal Gear and GTA. I also like more "emotionless" voice acting like in the games Silent Hill 2 and Metroid Other M, than overacting.

The mentioning of Malcolm McDowell reminded me of Wing Commander IV that had FMV and great acting by him. Another old game that I played without voice acting but had the best cast ever was Gabriel Knight.

Great voice acting: MadWorld, House of the Dead Overkill, The Conduit (love that actor from Battlestar Galactica).

I have a real soft spot for Megaman Legends' voice acting. Partially nostalgia but I still think it holds up pretty well all things considered. Especially considering Capcom is infamous for their bad voice acting in most of their games.

Caitlin Glass as Amidatelion in Crystal Bearers. The rest of the cast weren't bad, may be a bit too cheesy, but she was flipping amazing and totally stole the show.

I think the best voice acting was in Professor Layton and the Unwound Future, and in the Gamecube's Star Fox.

Grant Theft Auto 4: All of the voice work is excellent, and a good majority of it is hilarious. My favourite is probably Niko himself. Also, Little Jacob, despite the fact that I actually had to turn on subtitles to understand any of what he was saying, and even then it was hard XD

Comic Jumper: This is a game that I think went a bit unnoticed, which is sad because it's really just a hilarious game. And a lot of that is due to the voice acting, not the least of which comes from Captain Smiley and Star, with their constant banter

Dead Rising 1 and 2: While not exactly "great" voice acting, it really does fit the mood of the game, especially the psychopaths :3

Also, any game with David Duchovny. He is just a phenomenal voice actor ............ if by "phenomenal" you mean "always sounds bored out of his freaking mind and invests no interest in the happenings of the game"

The best strategy in the game: go up stairs and pause balls.

Anyone one who said Liam O'brien i agree 100% i never played Darksiders but it sounds like he sounds great ther but where i heard him first was the Professor Layton sereis (which actually has pretty good voice acting itself) i liked his voice there and then I played Unchained Blades and his voice was awesome and then right after that started playing Black Ops 2 heard the same voice so i looked him up and wow he has done a lot and probally great work.

Also Quinton Flynn who is the voice actor of Axel/Lea in the kingdom hearts series is pretty awesome
