Ah but Capcom stated they were satisfied with the sales of RE:R. Now if that was just pr for Nintendo and it's fans I'm not sure but they did state that a while back.
Well the game did come out on four consoles I'd be worried if it didn't do great. But to counter your point Resident Evil 6 was considered one of their top selling games of all time. Meeting a middle ground between the two would be the best approach going forward, and none of that dual campaign crap.
Yeah, but even Capcom knows that's not because of the actual game. It's because it was called Resident Evil 6.
And yet there top selling is not enough these days which is sad. These companies either need to cut back the budget or lower expectations. Not every games will sell 8 million plus copies just because there is 160+ million ps360 users out there.
As for what they said about RE:R I was just referring to the 3ds version alone and not all the hd remakes.
In the case of Capcom they sort of face the same problem that Konami has when they put out 1 or 2 games so those games have high expectations.
Have most of the game take slower paced gameplay like the original series with an emphasis on survival and limited items, now intersperce that with very fast paced transition sequences that play like RE4/5 when it comes to boss battles.

It's simple. They "milked" Resident Evil, Street Fighter, and to an extent, MvC3. Quality suffered, less and less people bought the games, they kept doing rehashes, even after people weren't buying the games, and there were probably a few projects that they cancelled(Mega Man).
They finally got some money from Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and 4, but Ultra Street Fighter 4 is about to happen.
I haven't a clue who would buy them, if anyone will. Mega Man, Street Fighter, etc. are good IPs, but it really depends on who would be willing to spend their time and possibly company resources to utilize said IPs. If Nintendo(or any company) buys Capcom, they'd have to make sure a new RE game is in development, almost immediately.
If anything I see them selling off all of their ip's before anyone will take a chance and buy them. Maybe that's how they will stay in business and get rid of some of the dead weight. There is money to be had with a lot of their franchises!

Selling off mega man would make millions.
Exactly, and why not, it's just sitting there with nothing new in a long time.

Nintendo would be an awful fit for Capcom. For all this talk of of Nintendo being a good fit were talking about the same company that terribly mismanages their own IP and goes for long periods with out games. You'd get the same output we get now just with the added benefit of a Megaman every 20 years.
Sony doesn't have the current cash flow to buy such a big entity and if they were going to acquire anyone it would be one of their 2nd party partners such as Ready at Dawn or Quantic Dream.
People tend to say Microsoft would be a bad fit by pointing to Rare and Ensemble studios, However you have to take into account that Microsoft different than it was then. I mean Skype and Nokia pretty much run as if they were separate companies. However Microsoft would be a terrible fit since they don't have an actual handheld as well it would kill Capcom's Japanese appeal.
The real truth is its going to be a third party that buys out Capcom due to the fact that a first party deal wouldn't fly with shareholders. A shortlist would be
Tenacent
Nexon
Gung-ho
Deep Silver
As much as I agree with everything you said I still can't help but feel at least Mega man, street fighter, and monster hunter should go to nintendo. I get what you mean about nintendo mishandeling IPs like metroid, star fox , or F-Zero like if the made MML3 but the classic and X fanboys hated it and nintendo would hide him in their backlog for like 10 years but whenever I think of sony and microsoft I see something like that canceled megaman first person shooter and cringe or street fighter+ halo. A FPS megaman game could be good though its just the market is full of them now. I just think like how nintendo displayed him in smash they would pay respect to the creators or like Zelda U shake up some conventions. But that said I'd be cool with them being bought out by third party. Lets just all hope Activision and EA stay FAR AWAY from them.
Capcom at E3: Guys we're sorry about how we've been treating Mega Man so we're gonna make it up to you by releasing the Mega Man Cancelled Collection with all the titles we cancelled in the condition they we're in just before we pulled the plug. Now who wants Street Fighter X Monster Hunter?
Honestly I'd rather just have Capcom get their crap together for the most part and stay a neutral entity. Bring back Breath of Fire and Ghouls and Ghost. How about brining some of the older IP back as eshop/PSN/XBL titles. Megaman 9/10 and the konami rebirth series has done well.

6 years ago he was one of the only downloadable games anyone was talking about.
Try again (don't)
Yes, Mega Man 9 was such a successful game. Best game ever and ever.
But what about afterwards? I mean, Capcom is a company, and if something sells, it makes more of it to keep the momentum going. So, what happened? lol
Capcpom happened.
The Star Force series ended and they didn't try anything to replace it. They didn't follow up Megaman 10 either. They than called Megaman Universe as well as Legends 3.
Its ironic that the Megaman comic book is doing so well and unlike sega Capcom don't try to capitalize.

The best outcome is that some company buys Capcom and let it do what it wants to do, but those chances are very slim. I'd like to see them getting through this on their own, but those chances are very slim as well. Nintendo has the money, and usually I'm not a huge supporter of Nintendo acquiring other companies, but if there's no choice, I'd rather see Nintendo buying Capcom, and let them just create their own games. Nintendo would even benefit from an extra Wii U/3DS exclusive here and there.
