No lol I can't even imagine who would at that price point with such an unproven library next to the actual mainstream next gen options

This thing is an absolute disaster and has been for a while now. It offers no compelling exclusive software or reason to buy and is astonishingly overpriced when compared to what else is on the market. I don't usually wish for things to do poorly but I honestly hope very few people buy this and instead get a more valuable, long term option with their $400 and just buy the Atari collection on Steam for a couple bucks if they really want to play those games.

No, I won't be picking this up as:
1) I have no attachment or nostalgia for Atari.
2) Even if I did, $400 is lot for a console (IMO), that doesn't seem to have a lot of exclusives. At least it has other features other than playing games.
Also, Atari has been going downhill for as long as I can remember. It's bizarre that Midway went out business 10 years ago, yet (somehow) Atari is still around.

Please give Ninjala a chance, guys. 🤔
As @Sunsy said,
Ninjala Gang FOR LIFE!
Also, if I don't respond to your post within a day (or two), don't worry, I'm not ignoring you. I'm going to be busy, though I will do my best to respond in a timely fashion.

@EngineerMario so can i play 2 player game's over the net on it and what are the new games. i have all the atari flashback consoles so i have alot of the original 2600 games.

Yeah, avoid this like the plague. It looks like they're unlikely to be shipping any units for retail sales this year in any case.

If you just want the games you can buy Atari Vault on Steam or Flashback Classics on most consoles for a heck of a lot less.

The Flashback mini consoles also do the job, but I don't think they're anywhere near as good as a NES or SNES Classic.

Definitely NO.
I would rather pick either Nintendo or Sony machines.

What about the Intellivision Amico? Not a single T or M rated game to be seen.

@Ninfan
Look at the reply above and also look down for some games included
The console will play more than 100 classic Atari games including Pong, Asteroids and Centipede, and can function as a mini PC that lets users install their own operating system. It also won't come cheap at $390 — that's nearly the price of a $399 PS5 Digital Edition and more expensive than a $299 Xbox Series S.

There are a number of people who've bought them over on the Atari Age forum, where it's still being actively discussed. By all accounts the build quality is pretty good and, if nothing else, the external design lives up to the hype. It's just somewhat expensive for what you're getting in comparison to mainstream consoles.

As a games console it's pretty much DOA - with poor software support, no real exclusives and it's not really powerful enough for modern AAA gaming anyway - but they're quite customizable and the ability to install your own OS means that anyone with the requisite tinkering skills can set one up as box for emulation, indie games, media streaming/playback.

I doubt they're going to make a huge number of them, so they will probably end up somewhat collectable, like most of Atari's other commercial failures.

rockodoodle

I guess it would have cost too much, but I would have paid about $100 for a mini console with some cool games on it from arcade and consoles….

rockodoodle

Matt_Barber

@rockodoodle There's always the Atari Flashback if that's what you want. It's nowhere near as nice a package as the NES and SNES Classic but you get a boatload of Atari games for a throwaway price.
