Taking advantage of the insane sale that ends today and after missing the similar Okami HD sale when the sequel was annonced, I got the digital version of Mega Man 11 as my first game for 2026.
And just like Okami HD, this sale coincided with the announcement of Mega Man: Dual Override .
Physical copies are plenty in my area, so eventually I'll see how cheap I can get one for.
Pizza Tower
I've played a fair bit of Wario Land 4 and enjoyed it but also thought it would benefit from more modern, fluid controls and given how well this game has been received, I just had to give it a go. Got up to the first boss which, while frustrating, did feel achievable which is more than I can say for something like Cuphead which I want to enjoy so badly but just don't have the patience for some of the bosses. The levels themselves have also been a blast and look forward to seeing where they go next.

Hades
Yup, Hades I. Don't how/why I've avoided this one for so long but given how acclaimed it is (and at £6.74) I just had to give it a go. Given how I'm not the most skilled of gamers, I was a bit apprehensive going into it but I've done around 10 runs or so and it feels delightfully addictive! My one pet peeve in games is spending up to hours and hours trying to accomplish something and ending up making no progress but with Hades, every new run feels like an extension of the previous one despite starting from the same place! The combat is wonderfully satisfying and the voice acting is also very well done.
Ah, Switch. Easily one of the best Nintendo consoles ever for NewWave/Faux retro games. Still, most of the games i enjoy on it can be played and found on PS5, it's just that I can't stand the DualSense's awful rubbery detached styled D-pad, awkward lower placed Symetrical Stick layout, plus it's L2 & R2 triggers never feel satisfying or enjoyable to use unless that adaptive trigger tech is in use, and when it is, that's when they absolutely shine.
But without adaptive at play, I much prefer digital L2 & R2 buttons, since you get that simple clicky tacticle satisfying response. Plus, Retro styled games feel far more at home on Nintendo, and PS5's UI is just painfully depressing looking, soulless and overly clunky.
Anything NewWave retro is so much better with the NS1 Pro Controller, even though you will run into the odd D-pad misregister from time to time. Anyways! picked these up digitally on sale recently for NS1.

Pre-ordered Jaws Retro Edition from Limited Run Games. As much as their shipping drives me nuts the nostalgia bug hit me hard with this game. As Jaws was the second NES game I ever played, Super Mario Bros being the first, so yeah I had to get this one. Yes I know its a horrible game but I want to see if I can actually finish it. Plus I am curious to see what QoL improvements they made to it.

Just bought The House of the Dead 1 REMAKE for the Switch on the Nintendo Store when it was only a few dollars. I never played the arcade but I knew it was a on-rails zombie shooter. I didn't really know what to expect when playing it but what I didn't expect was to play it for 6 hours straight because it was so much fun. I would highly recommend it. The normal (current) price is $24.99. It's a great game to just turn off your brain and shoot some zombies
After reading several reviews, I decided to buy MIO: Memories In Orbit. It just came out today, and it’s a Metroidvania. So far, it has been excellent, but pretty difficult. There are a few things I have an issue with, but that might be remedied later on. If you are a fan of Hollow Knight, this one will be for you.
