I’m level 44 and on chapter 11. I’m mopping up some remaining side quests, but I’m getting concerned I’m not leveled up highly enough for the final quest. With that said, I have everything upgraded as much as possible, most people maxed in their affinity, and have nearly the entire map unlocked with FrontierNav probes. I want to reach level 50 and unlock the new Skell because it seems beneficial for exploring and escaping enemies if need be.
I will say there are several side quests that I’m partaking in that are very misleading. I had this issue at the start of the game, but it eased up after a while. Now I’m having similar issues, where the recommended level is maybe 20 (I’m 44), and there are multiple objectives they don’t prepare you for. In fact, one has me going into a cave to save someone, and there are approximately 12 enemies in there in a cluttered state that are level 55. There is no way around them either. I wish there was a better balance with this.
Just got my skell, did the Close Comrades affinity quest, and now I need to survey 25% of Oblivia before accepting the Ch. 7 quest. But I only just got to Sylvalum! Got a ton of exploring to do I guess. So I'm gonna accept some affinity quests that take place in Sylvalum to make it more interesting as I explore that area and make my way to Oblivia.
@Ulysses
Go on Etsy and spring $100 with a 2 week turnaround to get a modchip installed. Then email me and I'll help you set up overclocking. Running MH Rise at a locked 60fps (overriding frame caps is so good it almost feels criminal) and Xenoblade X outputting a docked image in handheld with a locked 30fps is butter. And still getting 4-5 hours battery (3-4 on MHR).
Skells are a HUGE part of the game. You get them at the halfway point (chapter 6, which there are 12 chapters + additional epilogue). They're meant to feel like an earned reward. Plus once you get a skell it ruins exploration on foot. If you had it out the gate it would destroy that sense of progression, that awe, wonder and danger. Btw if you're mining properly and chaining probes you'll be stacked with funds. Also selling your outdated equipment. There are also mission quests at the MP kiosk fron Blade Barracks you can do solo to level up fast (like 700 XP for a mission that takes 20 seconds) and though I haven't used it for money, I'm sure you could to get quick cash as well. Just fyi.
Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
I'm now LVL55.
Still between Chapters 6 and 7.
My Skell is now maxed.
Got a Phoenix on it and holy moly! that thing is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm taking out lvl45 creatures with one hit!
I have only two classes left to swap to and then they'll all be maxed!
I'm on lvl of my current one.
My FrontierNav: 50,000+ credits & 50,000+ miranium
I have 5 left in Noctilum, 2 or 3 in Primordia, 2 or 3 left in Oblivia, 3 or 4 left in Sylvilum and 2 left in Caldrous.
All my teammates are now maxed on class.
All but four teammates are maxed on affinity!
Primordia, Noctilum and Oblivia are at 50%+ explored
Caldrous is at 30%
Sylvilum... I think 30%
All blade board quests have been finished except for one. A LVL 61 creature in Caldrous.
I've finished chapter 10 last night. My party is around lvl 45 so back to the grind. I've found it's best to he 3-4 levels over the recommendation for each chapter.
I left off last night exploring a bunch of cauldros and getting just under 10% surveyed. Basically, I do a handful of affinity missions, but mostly use my skell to fight overpowered enemies to gain a bunch of exp. Once my fuel is running low, i switch to doing missions in the barracks to gain a bunch of exp.
It's been a nice balance to level up relatively quickly since I want to continue on the story and I'm getting burnt out from the side content. I'd love this game more if getting to the story wasn't so long and arduous.
@NintendoByNature From what I know, you just need to increase your level of your gear. Probably would help if I knew how to utilize augments more efficiently.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
@NintendoByNature You and I play the same exact way. I share your sentiments, though I’m still having a blast with the side content. I’m really not looking forward to the final boss fight.
Currently between chapters 7 and 8:
Most green quests are done, soon to start the Affinity Quests.
All available teammates are now maxed in both Class and Affinity!
Current Character lvl is now 55
Leisel has her Skell
Lin had my first Skell
Everyone else has a lvl 30 Skells and maxed out armor and weapons
Once I get the flight module after chapter 9, then I'll upgrade everyone's Skell to max.
I can't remember who I need to remove armor and a Skell from though ...
@VoidofLight@Kraven for sure. I'll keep at it. Worst case, I get mopped 5 times in a row and it lowers the difficulty. I'd rather it not come to that, but it is what it is.
As before, having a higher level doesn't do much to improve your stats beyond being able to accept missions and equip gear.
Level 50 is the magic number for getting a better class of Skell, and that's definitely worth it. I used an Amdusias 50 with Phoenix and G-Buster, with the remaining slots filled with quick charging arts to give me a better chance of hitting cockpit mode. Weapon Attack and suitable Slayer Augments can make it hit harder, but don't feel the need to fill every slot with XX ones.
You can also get some level 55 ground gear from the shop, if you want to do a further five levels. There's a section of the final battle that's a heck of a lot easier if you bring a good ground build, although that's far more about being able to keep overdrive active indefinitely than the level of your gear.
Level 60 isn't that hard to get to, but you won't get new Skells until you've finished chapter 12 and there's no new shop gear; you're going to have to fight high level tyrants to get get the good stuff, and that's typically harder than just finishing the story.
Anyway, good luck and remember that it wouldn't be a Xenoblade game without a final boss that's a big difficulty jump and has a bunch of cheap shots.
@Matt_Barber I beat it. It's interesting that all phases aside from one are intended to be beaten in the Skell. Also can't wait to get into the new content... aside from the new VA for Vandham being terrible.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
@Spider-Kev The thing that the game doesn't tell you is:
Only around half of them spawn when you accept the quest, with the rest of them dropping when you find the 49th one, which itself only appears when you find the other 48. If you were just shy of that number, you were a lot closer to being on track than you thought.
Still, every Xenoblade game has to have that one quest that's thrown in just to keep the completionists busy.
@Matt_Barber
Except for the quest name, the official player's guide didn't even mention this quest.
In fact, it was the absolute worst player's guide ever.
I just finished chapter 11. I’m really digging the story and the characters. I don’t think I’ll do all the side quests, but my goal is to unlock all characters, complete all affinity missions and max them out, and reach level 50 in order to get the new Skell.
I think this game is phenomenal, with only two real issues. I was waiting to present my judgments until I progressed further, but my complaints have remained consistent throughout. First of all, there are balancing issues in terms of leveling and side missions. You should not be level 30, do a side quest that is a recommended level of 20, and get sent to required areas to complete the mission that has level 50-55 creatures. I’m not talking about open areas where various wildlife are roaming about — that is easy to manage — but actual sections where you are forced to fight regardless.
My other issue, and this could be a me problem, is the miranium. Maybe it’s how I’ve placed my probes, though I think I have a good understanding of how it works, but I still lack significant amount of miranium. I’m typically sitting at 40,000 of it, and yet it costs me 20,000 just to augment one slot for my weapon. Why is it so expensive? Again, maybe it’s just me not understanding fully how to acquire this material, but regardless, it’s a little bit excessive.
All of those complaints aside, this is shaping up to be my favorite Xenoblade game. I did not expect that considering how much I love the first game. I’m excited to try out the epilogue.
@Kraven
I'll pull out my WiiU in a couple of days.
I had THE best FrontierNav setup on it.
If I remember correctly, I was pulling 100,000 miranium every time.
@Spider-Kev If you could give me some tips that would be awesome. Not only that, I’m barely getting any revenue and yet I have probes set up appropriately. Another thing I’m confused on is when do you reap the benefits of your probe set ups? Do you get them randomly or do you have to go to a menu to collect?
