WWE 2K Battlegrounds has been announced as coming to the Switch now.
I'm not sure what to make of this, I can do with a new rasslin' game as I still put up with 2K18 on the Switch but this just doesn't feel right. The chibi art style doesn't work imo especially for Becky and Charlotte and I would of liked something akin to All Stars’ style. Still it's early days and the trailer didn't show the gameplay so maybe it will turn out good.
I'm hoping for a good roster mix at least. I particularly want tag teams. APA, Harlem Heat, Hart Foundation and The Road Warriors would be cool on top of the current lot like New Day & Street Profits. I'd love The Dudley and Hardy Boyz too but half of those teams work for different promotions so I can't see them appearing. Also a decent women’s roster looks possible from the trailer. My fingers are crossed for Asuka, Lita, Chyna, Sasha Banks and Trish Stratus.
A few titbits have come out from the ESRB rating. There's microtransactions, it features taunts (apparently they can be "suggestive"), a custom wrestler feature and they can use weapons.
I watched a Twitch streamer play this. Hard pass for me until it's deeply discounted. It's less of a wrastlin' game and more of an arena fighter. Arms, My Hero One's Justice, Jump Force, etc. Although the grappling reminds me of the AKI Corp N64 wrastlin' games, which isn't a bad thing.

@NintendoByNature given how bad 2K20 was I don’t think it’s worth the risk getting their games til reviews/updates are checked out. I mean the last game had the Y2K bug in it lol
@jump yea I know. The handful of user reviews seem positive aside from the micro transactions. But since there's a deluxe edition I must just go with that and get all the wrestlers. Im mostly In it for the old timers( 80s 90s and early 00s). But we'll see. If it scores a 6 or better ill grab it.
To be fair, Battlegrounds was developed by Saber Interactive. While the sloppy mess, WWE 2K18, was developed by Yuke's. Two different style of games, different devs, Battlegrounds should see more positive reviews. Battlegrounds seems to have a pick-up-and-play quality where as WWE2K18 was...just hard to play due to all the jank.

@Magician yeah but this seems like a rush job to make up for no 2K21 and it’s the same publisher who thought the Switch version of 2K18 and the pile of mess that is 2K20 were good enough for release.
@Mordridakon I don't see the problem with a microtransaction as such if it's just a quicker unlockable but it's the forcing of microtransactions to avoid the ridiculous amount of grinding just to get the jobbers let alone the amount to get main eventers is the bigger problem for me.
Yep I am done with WWE games at least till they get a new developer. I will.stick with Fire Pro, Retromania Wrestling and hopefully the AEW game won't be a dumpster fire.

@Tasuki I don't the problem is with the developer, the last 3 games all had different developers. It looks like it's the publisher putting pressure on for releasing games too early and forcing in DLC in addition to microtransactions for full price games.
