I'm on the fence with ARMS, like the look of it alot,, just concerned whether people will still be online playing in a year's time. There isnt much info on online numbers, don't want to buy it, train myself up and then find empty lobbys

I would love to see a Zelda multiplayer and online game from them. Something like Four Swords / TriForce Heroes but it should be as entertaining and huge as Mario Kart.

I don't think you have to worry about empty lobbies anytime soon; ARMS has a long life ahead of it. I just bought 2 copies of ARMS for 2 family members, and it's my most played game on the Switch. I can tell you the the lobbies for party matches have zero wait times, you are connected with lobbies full of other people immediately. I've never had to wait for an online party match, and the online lobbies are busier than ever now. Ranked matches you occasionally have to wait for a minute or 2, but that's mostly because everyone's having too much fun in party matches. ARMS is a million + seller and has an EVO event happening in Japan next year. It's one of the most unique fighting games ever made and is one of the Switch's best exclusives. And it plays wonderfully on the TV or tabletop mode with multiplayer matches locally or online. As someone who's played ARMS every week since it was released, I haven't noticed online interest waning at all. I think ARMS has a lot of life left in it, and if you're considering picking it up I would say do it!

@SuperWeird Downloaded ARMS last night, absolutely brilliant game, easy to pick up, but hard to get good at, it's my current work in progress along with Zelda of course

I've seen Arms, but heard so many mixed reviews as with this topic. I'm pretty surprised though that they are stopping content updates for it.

ARMS is one of Unique Fighting game that unfortunatelly still underdog due to People's perception that painting and shaping ARMS like their thought, Weird.

People still can't accept something unique like ARMS and demanding more Tekken or Street Fighter clones.
If gamers like that still refuse to accept something unique like ARMS, what a pity of them.
I know ARMS was one of Risky game with unusual approach, not everyone can accept that Unusual thing like that, but that Unsual game like ARMS somehow captivated me.
I can say, ONLY people with sense of Art can understand and enjoy ARMS.
Typical Mainstream gamers with Adore of Tekken or Street Fighter probably can't accept ARMS due to Weird, Unusual fighting games.
Well... too bad....

@Hare - Seriously, its worth a go, I went online and was whipped everytime, but it was fun, I'm now training like crazy in time for the new year ARMS Fest.
I thought Id like this game but was sitting on the fence over it vs the more popular Splatoon, but it really is a very enjoyable game...

Anyone else participating in the ARMS part crash, been on it all day now, great fun, loving the party mode randomness and some epic Hedlock battles

@3dg3d3m0n I'm going to put it on in a little while. I've missed the last 2 party crashes but this features my favourite fighter, Master Mummy. Not a chance I'll be missing it this time. I'll be seriously rusty though, been a while since I properly played it. I regret that as it really is a fantastic game.

That "Big-Time ARMS" bonus event is pretty funny with it's massive damage.

Though I feel as though I should remind people that there's already a normal ARMS thread for more general discussion. Please go there so I can keep gushing/analyzing Dr. Coyle as a character. It's amazing how lax everyone in the game is concerning her methods... then again, the ARMS League rules seem pretty loose to begin with and Max Brass doesn't do much to enforce them.

Fun fact: Did you know Coyle is the reason Master Mummy can compete at all?

@Whitewatermoose Wasn't the initial reaction to the original Splatoon on release a bit lukewarm, though? That while the gameplay was solid, it suffered from a serious lack of content? It took quite a while for that perception to change.

ARMS isn't being written off. You don't just release a character with massive plot influence, publish a graphic novel and host a tournament for a flop game. I'm fairly certain we'll hear about ARMS again sooner rather than later.

Wasn’t Splatoon basically all Ninty had during the span of its release? I recall it being the only big Ninty game for several months.

Splatoon also had an enormous amount of content locked on disc.

From some people maybe, but anyone who was actually paying attention already knew about how it was bringing out content and that the lack of content was only an issue because of a lack of other major Wii U titles around the time. (and even then, most of those people could've bought Wonderful 101 if they wanted something to play and once again they didn't, so **** em)

@-Green- Well region dependent, these were the main Wii U releases after Mario Party 10 in March and before Super Mario Maker in September.

  • Europe: Kirby (early May), Splatoon (late May), Yoshi (late June)
  • NA: Splatoon (late May)
  • Japan: Xenoblade Chronicles X (late April), Splatoon (late May), Yoshi (July)

So Japan was fine but XCX didn't sell well from what I recall.

It is interesting how the game seems to have sold fairly evenly across regions, but the japanese seem to play it more than others, at least in Party Mode (it's difficult to get a grasp of the Ranked side of things due to strict matchmaking), Party Crash notwithstanding. I even noticed the japanese Switch news tab got a Christmas-themed art of Ribbon Girl, but not any other region.
