I now have Smash Ultimate, and Breath of the Wild.

I really want another solo game i can play on my own, but don't know which one to get.
I'm hesitating between: Pokemon Sword, Astral Chain, Dragon Quest XI S.
What do you recommend? Dragon Quest is not so high up on my list because it isnt a switch exclusive, but i don't know what's worth it.

Maybe i could also wait until i played through BOTW and then get Links Awekening?

Dragon Quest XI S is a magnificent game. If you want a game that you can play solo and sink 100s of hours into, this is the one. It's lovely to look at, the controls are tight and the story is superb.

I don't know why it's not being exclusive to Switch is a factor, but they added a lot of gameplay for this version.

If you're looking for longevity, go Dragon Quest. If you're looking for satisfying action, go Astral Chain. If you're looking for something that delivers on neither of those, go Pokémon Sword.

DQ XI > Astral Chain > Pokémon S/S, imo.

Go for a game that you want to get.

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

Get Animal Crossing New Horizons, comes out in 9 days.

To me it looks like you're up for big game. For that reason alone I would not recommend Pokemon. This edition is more settling for competitive players, than for solo-one-time-story enjoyers.

Have no experience with Astral Chain, but it looks promising.

Dragon Quest looks like your best pick out of these three. Grand adventure, exploring, battle, character development. You have to enjoy the turn-based battle system though.

Anyone know the replayability of Astral Chain? Because Dragon Quest feels kinda stale after a while to me, only halfway through the demo so i dont know for sure.

@Rezji It's very replayable. Although the campaign is relatively short, it's fun to play through it again and discover new areas or collectibles. Don't expect it to last as long as Dragon Quest, though.

@Rezji Pokemon Sword is easily the best Pokemon game we've had in years. Ignore the haters. I've happily dumped over 300 hours into. It's the most accessible the game has ever been for competitive play. Raid battles are fun and they've been supporting it with events and updates. Some people are just bitter because it's not the exact game they wanted. Though it doesn't quite beat the DS golden age, it's better than any of the 3DS titles.

DQ11 is a very solid JRPG. It has great game play and battle mechanics. But a cookie cutter standard story that's so predictable I actually was guessing word for word what some characters would say. And the silent protagonist is poorly worked into the game, with everyone else just speaking for him. That said, the game play is so strong and the supporting characters so likable it's easy to recommend.

I haven't had the chance to play Astral Chain yet, but I've heard very good things about it and intend on playing it eventually.

You can't go wrong with Link's Awakening either. It's considered one of the best Zelda games to date and it's good reputation is well earned. Though you might find it to be a bit short if you're expecting it to be the size of BOTW. It's not.

It comes down to what you're looking for in a game. You can ask people all you like but you should really trust your own opinions above all. It's your money and your free time.

@T7Hokage017 I never heard of pokemon swsh ruining anything. also it's just your choice.. maybe read up on pokemon differences between the two and decide then? thats usually the best way some pokemon on sword arent on shield and vise versa.

@T7Hokage017 There is no truth whatsoever to the idea that the game can damage your Switch. God I am so frakking sick of the haters this game has. More than 16 million copies of the game are in the wild, if it could damage your Switch, it would be the headline article on every gaming website for weeks because games that damage your console are unheard of.

The only thing that can go wrong is if you use the surprise trade feature and someone else with a hacked Switch sends you a hacked Pokemon. This can lock you out of online features - in that save file. But that's all. It would not damage your Switch and the only problems are related to users cheating and even then there's no risk to the system, just your save file.

@T7Hokage017
Pokemon Sword / Shield is really safe to play.
Depend on your Pokemon preferences.
If you interested with Sirfetch'd, choose Sword.
If you like Galar Ponyta (looks like My Little Pony), choose Shield.
