Getting annoyed with the American eShop. There's demo's for 1st party games but not 3rd party games?? The Japanese eShop has the right idea they have demo's for both 1st party games and 3rd party games~ 🤷‍♀️ It's no wonder why Japan always gets the games first let alone that's where Nintendo originally started year's ago. It's also part of the reason I bought several Japanese games is because of trying the demo's first & also doing research on the game as well. Reading reviews, watching videos on YouTube of gameplay etc. Went into the American eShop no demo for lol surprise games... 🤦‍♀️ I'll just research them some more. Still on the fence. Thank you for taking the time to read this~ ✌️

Still playing demo's of:

Rilakkuma Nintendo switch
Hoppe Sanrio Friends Nintendo switch

Demo's finished & actually bought games of:

Wan Nyan Pet Shop Nintendo switch
Wan Nyan Pet Hospital Nintendo switch bought American version but demo was only in Japanese eShop??
Pretty Princess Party Nintendo switch bought American version but demo was in Japanese eShop not American eShop... 🤦‍♀️
Neko Tomo Nintendo switch
The Story Of The Shining Nurse (Pika Pika Nurse Monogatari) Nintendo switch
Butt Detective Oshiri Nintendo switch

Just doesn't make sense to me if Nintendo wants to sell games why not give everyone the demo's & not just some to try before buying... 🤦‍♀️✌️

Happy Gaming! (^~^)

Not every developers have budget to make their demo version.
You can always check from YouTube to watch the gameplay video.
Also, take a note for games like LOL Surprise and most girlie games are really mediocre by general. Maybe lack of contents or too many Loading screens or terrible control or a lot of inconsistency, etc.
My honest opinion, even I have purchased Pups & Purrs Animal Hospital, Waku Waku Sweets, Pretty Princess Party, those games are really mediocre in gaming quality. Great ideas but poor game contents and gameplay quality.
I still have interest with those games but I knew those games will never be better than other games. It just acceptable but not Wow.

@Barbiegurl777 It's a matter do you loose money doing demo or save to make the retail release with trailers. Developers don't have unlimited funds to do everything. The smaller the studios that more they have to watch their budget to make the release ETA or do you want them to go under and we never see the games again. Be carefully what you wish for you might just get the opposite TBD going forever.

@Barbiegurl777 You know you can download demos from Japan's eshop, right? US obviously has third party demos, but I assume you see demos that are only available in certain regions. (not disagreeing with your points otherwise)

But yeah, even though the Switch is region free, there are still differences between regional eshops. And it often doesn't appear to make sense (from out point of view), be it international trade rules/publisher legal things, or currency differences.

Because demos often result in lost sales rather than widening a game's appeal.

Hmm, it doesn't even sound like it's only bad demos that they're talking about.... Although I don't think a demo ever exactly sold me on a game while they have sometimes had the opposite effect
I like playing demos for games I am not sure about & for others I'm definitely getting as well but the main appeal is usually being able to transfer progress so I can basically start playing earlier
Or the early 'feedback wanted' demos, which I love

@Swithforce

True. Maybe they don't give America as much to work with. The trailer's are nice on one hand but on the other I still prefer the demo because then it hand's on to see whether or not you really like the gameplay where there are other games in the past I've bought from watching the trailer's thinking I would really like it only to end up wasting $40 or $50 to later trade it in. I have mixed feelings on it personally.

@Anti-Matter

I already do that with going to YouTube for gameplay videos whether the game is American, Japanese, or European. I also try to read all the reviews of each game before making a decision on buying it as well. I've always liked the girlie games. Never once looked at them as mediocre if anything I'm drawn to those types of games. After playing the demo's for both pretty Princess Party & Wan Nyan Pet Hospital in the Japanese eShop is ironically what won me over to buying both because before I was on the fence about both then found the demo's & figured had nothing to loose by trying the demo's first which persuaded my opinion to get both. True but even as far back to the game boy color & even super Nintendo I've enjoyed both 1st party & 3rd party games but for a long time I sometimes liked the 3rd party games even more so than 1st party. Not all the time but definitely sometimes.

@WoomyNNYes

Yes. I am aware of that. That's what I've been doing is downloading the demos from the Japanese eShop. It's ironic because I have several games on the American eShop wish list and can only get the demos from the Japanese eShop for those certain games. Still buying the American version if possible. It's just weird though in my opinion. Sorry... 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️✌️ I love the fact that the switch is region free.

@Magician

I must march to the beat of a different drum then because for me it inspired me to want to buy certain games after trying the demo's. 🤷‍♀️

For me the demo is a make or break kind of deal. I either love it or hate it. D'oh~ 🤦‍♀️ I didn't even think about transferring the progress from the demo's to the games lol~ 🤣 I agree though as for to play whether not sure or definitely getting the game. Same~ 😎🔥👍

Certainly seems curious games having demos in Japan eshop only, @Barbiegurl777 .... That isn't because those only had Japanese or anything?

I'm confused. No I just like trying the demo's of games first regardless of what region the game is in before buying it. Plus since the switch is region free it's been great playing both Japanese & American games. I haven't even delve into the European Nintendo switch import games yet. Coincidentally if anyone knows of any good baby or girlie European Nintendo switch games that don't have an American release & are European only Nintendo switch games let me know & I'll gladly import them only if they have a European release though. 🤷‍♀️ As for the Japanese thing I don't worry about reading the text lol. I have Google translate on my phone it translate's great from Japanese to English. I already finished Neko Tomo~ 😹😹🤣

@Barbiegurl777 You can always wait after release or Reviewers whom can get test online review to see how the game play goes. That's the only other way to see game play for the games. There's a tradeoff if they try to make a Demo they could be trying to fixes bugs before release and a Demo might have more bugs then it would ruin the gaming experiences as well.

I only download demos if I know it's a game I'm going to buy, and the demo has transfer save data to full game on release.

@Anti-Matter

Looks like fun. I just picked up lol surprise remix we rule the world at Walmart for $20 to get my feet wet to see if I like the series. It plays good. Right now still playing Butt Detective just unlocked chapter 3~ 🤣 I'll probably get lol movie night Nintendo switch game this July if I like lol surprise remix Nintendo switch game. 🤷‍♀️✌️

@Switchforce

I look into all of it these day's not as naive as I was with the gameboy color many years ago. I try to research every game thoroughly before buying it. Playing demos, watching game play video's on YouTube, reading reviews on both here (nintendolife) & amazon.

@TommyTendo

9 out of 10 times if I download the demo. I usually want to buy the game as a make or break kind of deal.
