It's been a pretty good week for Switch owners who enjoy retro titles and remakes. We got the excellent Blizzard Arcade Collection and then confirmation that the Tony Hawk Remaster is on its way. So, what other retro collections, remakes, or re-releases would you love to see come to Switch?
I'll start:
1. Disney Afternoon Collection
2. Rare Replay
3. I would love to see EA bring an SSX collection
4. A LucasArts collection would be incredible. I know Grim Fandango is already on the Switch, but I don't believe Monkey Island is. Also, there's the exceptionally excellent and often overlooked Herc's Adventures, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, even Star Wars Dark Forces is one I'd love in this collection. Then there's the potential for Super Star Wars, Day of the Tentacle. This one could literally go on and on.
5. A TMNT collection from Konami would also be welcomed. It could include all of the NES originals, Turtles in Time, and Tournament Fighters for the SNES. I know licensing would be an issue on this, but if Arcade1Up can get the licensing deal done, then surely Nintendo could also.
Obviously a (3D-)Zelda collection would be awesome on Switch! Also Metroid Prime HD Trilogy has to happen at some point. Otherwise I'm not that much of a retro-gamer.
Firstly, there was that rumor of a Mortal Kombat trilogy remake that was in the works a couple years ago, but haven't heard a peep of it since. Secondly, I believe the elephant in the room would be Final Fantasy 1 through 6; why S-E haven't put those on Switch yet is beyond me. Thirdly, I'm always hopeful Take Two Interactive will put GTA III / VC / SA on an 8 GB cartridge, give Switch owners GTA in some shape or form. Lastly, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection; more people need to experience Peace Walker, the best game in the MGS series not enough people played.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,555 games (as of March 31st, 2026)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
Then it's the Legacy Collection you'd prefer over the HD Collection then, since it has all the games in the MGS series? Unfortunately, that probably won't happen since...rumor has it...Bluepoint (developer of the Demon Souls remake) is working on the MGS remake exclusively for PS5. That, and the fact that MGS 4 isn't available anywhere else except PS3. Those two things combined make a port of HD Collection more likely rather than a port of Legacy Collection, sadly.
@Shadowthrone That would be an epic TMNT collection. The first two Game Boy games are relatively straight forward beat 'em ups, but the third brings some really unique metroidvania aspects to it, and I'd love to give that another spin.
I would like a wrestling game pack that includes games like this:
Pro Wrestling (NES)
Saturday Night Slammasters (SNES)
WWF Wrestlefest (Arcade)
Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game (Arcade)
WCW vs. NWO Revenge (N64)
WWF No Mercy (N64)
WWE Day of Reckoning 2 (GCN)
I would like Capcom to finish porting the Onimusha series and I would like to see a port of the Viewtiful Joe series. Other than that, there is nothing that I am chomping at the bit for. Most stuff is dead/system locked for a reason. I’ll just keep playing my retro stuff.
I will say with 3ds ports being a thing and no way to output 3ds games to a tv, I do hope those ports pick up, but I am not desperate.
I would still do something terrible to see both of the EVO games remade. That was some early FF level shenanigans right there. How many series do you go through an evolutionary path to become the pinnacle of life on earth (and you don’t have to be human) so that you can mate with the personification of the earth and oh Lucifer and Martians are trying to interfere with evolution. ...well Lucifer wanted a mass extinction event, but still. And you have to fight the other being in the running to be Gaia’s mate.

The classic Sims games on PC and console/handhelds in compilation releases.
I've been playing The Sims Bustin' Out on GBA lately and I am addicted all over again. One of my favourite games of all time. It has its flaws, but I'm enjoying it too much to care. Thank God for the Heidi Shadows easter egg, as building skills in this game would have been bloody unbearable without.
World Trigger Borderless Mission Remake with 2- 4 player local splitscreen and online co-op with updated controls and gameplay as well as multiplayer.
Original star wars battlefront 2 remake - Updates I want are 4 player couch co-op, wireless, and online for all modes especially galatic conquest.
Also it would be cool if starkiller, rebels and clone wars tv show characters could be added to this.
Zoids battle legends remake - More polish would be appreciated but what this zoids game really needs is local splitscreen and or online co-op outside the vs mode.
There is a 2 on 2 battle mode that is only single player. Also the story mode often has one zoid vs many so co-op in all modes would not be out of place, as a matter of fact Id say its missing. A vs mode for four players would be essential as well.
Nintendo needs to remake Eternal Darkness and Geist. These kinds of games didn't do well on Gamecube, but Switch has the biggest core-gamer appeal of any Nintendo system post N64. These would outsell their initial runs by a wide margin today.
I remember Dennis Dyack tried to kickstart the spiritual successor to Eternal Darkness a few years ago, a project called Shadow of the Eternals, but it didn't get enough traction. Then in 2018 he formed Apocalyse Studios with the goal of developing a Legacy of Kain spiritual successor (an action/rpg similar to Blood Omen, not a 3D puzzle/platformer like Soul Reaver) called Deadhaus Sonata. It's looking like one of those games that'll stay in development limbo forever it seems.
@Magician Yeah, but no one trusts Dennis Dyack after Too Human and X-Men, and all the other drama that went down with Silicon Knights. If Nintendo had a competent studio remake Eternal Darkness, I think it would do well.
I had a dream that Nintendo would get Kojima and Del-Torro to rework Silent Hills into an Eternal Darkness sequel, but that was never going to happen.
