I want to have two docks (one for the tv and one for a gaming monitor) but I don't have the money for the official dock. What are the best cheap 3rd Party Docks in the UK? Thanks for any help!
@LetsGoSwitch Since the story of third party docks bricking Switch consoles in 2018, you may get conflicting answers. Maybe you've seen the story. Does anybody in the forum know of a trustworthy source that addresses third party docks for the Switch? Or has anyone been using a third party dock that they recommend?
The last thing I want to do is perpetuate a myth, but I cannot find source I trust that addresses whether third party docks are safe for the Switch. I will gladly delete or edit my comment if someone has credible input. The sites I find with google are all site's I'm not familiar with. And those results are a mixed bag of answers. I'd love to know if anyone can site a credible source.
@Octane The myth that a third party dock could possibly brick your switch. I'll admit, I thought I saw something in the past year that said third party docks were fine, but I wanted to be sure.
Skull&Co is one I would recommend using.
GENKI: Covert Dock for the Nintendo Switch.
As for which 3rd party alot depends on how well they test for product reliability before selling it. But for Dock is probably the Best One for stable and protective stand to use. I have 3 of them, one for famliy room, one for Gaming room, One in my Nintendo Backpack when on the road. I planned ahead in getting two extra Docks when it first came out knowing that I would use it at more then one place.
Well, I do think early 3rd party docks probably did, @Woomy_NNYes.... No, it's also the power supply, @Octane The port looks like a standard type but, supposedly, isn't actually & that's what was claimed to be causing problems
I remember hearing that the companies involved replaced the affected Switches, so that'd suggest it was the docks doing it
They have to give the answer that it is verified to work with the Switch otherwise you should stay away from those devices. So unless they can guarantee or warranty that it works with Switch I wouldn't use them.
As far as i know there is no officially licensed 3rd party dock. And it's not a myth that some 3rd party docks can and do brick systems. So i would just wait until you can afford an official dock. The extra time it will take to save up and buy an official dock is way less than the time it would take to save up to replace a bricked Switch.
@Woomy_NNYes Well, I'm afraid I am of no help here, since I only own one dock, and for me, there's no need to buy a second one, so I haven't really looked into it at all.
'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'
The Insignia dock is the only one I've heard that hasn't bricked a system. I bought one a while back and use it from time to time with no problems.
That being said, given that the price has gone up to $50 (it was $35 when I got one), I would play it safe and get the official dock. If you run the risk with third party and get burned, you'll be furious with yourself.
@BruceCM@Woomy_NNYes I'm pretty sure @Octane is having a laugh with you (sorry to ruin the party but I'd hate to see someone bricking their Switch over a joke )
