Topic: Smash World -- Out Now

Original: Remember how in the final direct for ultimate, they announced a new section of the nso app for smash? It supposed to come out early this year I believe. When do you think they'll release it?

Woah I wasn't made aware of this. I didn't watch any of the Directs because I didn't want spoilers, but now that it's out I thought that I had heard everything

@MasterJay Probably at the same time as the 3.0 update.

@Grumblevolcano That's what I was leaning towards, I wonder how they're going to show this update, if it's direct or just a tweet or something else

Sounds reasonable that Smash World will come with version 3.0. However, in the last Direct, Nintendo didn't want to talk about it besides saying that it's coming soon and they're working hard on Joker. We'll see what happens, though I am fairly certain that Joker would arrive with the update.

I've heard people say there would be a smash direct for the update in April and a normal one, but that seems like too much. But it would make sense

@MasterJay If there's a Direct attached to more details on the Spring update, I think it'll be announced at the PAX East tournament finals like how Nintendo announced the August Direct at the end of EVO.

I really hope they add the NSO app's invite feature to Smash when they add Smash World. Splatoon 2 has had the invite feature since the game launched, and I always assumed that all games would have it once NSO was officially out of beta. To this day, Splatoon 2 is still the only game that has it. It feels a little bit like false advertising...

@ALinkttPresent Well, it was also advertised we would be able to schedule play sessions with friends, and that isn't a thing at all

Smash is still in its infancy, give this stuff time. I suspect Nintendo has a plan to keep Ultimate alive for years with updates and new fighter passes. They said the app would come in 2019, so it could be soon or a few months off. Regardless, I'm sure it's still happening.

@ALinkttPresent Well even 3 NES games a month now is false advertising outside Japan.

I mean, this year is gonna be great for Nintendo regarding games, but if they truly want the to switch it (sorry) to the next level, they need to release a big software update for switch that adds messaging and voice chat, as well as requested features like folders, and an eshop overhaul. Its basics like these that can really improve the switch as a platform
