I think the thing that fooled me about it was that it was very close to home. And the details made enough sense for me not to question it. Both the games themselves and the fact that EBGames does this sort of stuff all the time. Then to top it off Vooks, who is usually onto this sort of stuff, didn't tear it to shreds on twitter. Instead he posted a thing about people not understanding placeholder prices. Which now makes a lot of sense given that vooks was the one who faked it.
Also he's done this before. A few times. This is the first time I think he's fooled me.

An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions
@Peek-a-boo Well, they also said that despite the fact that the Xbox One doesn't always hit its 1080p target, it still runs smoothly. Maybe lower some other settings too? It should be possible I think. Anway, I don't think that Doom will be ported to the Switch anyway, so I guess it's a moot point.
People claiming that games only sell well once and once only and are only worth talking about for one period which is the original release of the original version are out of touch with the reality of the market. Remasters, remakes, collections of trilogies, episodic games, late ports, GOTY editions, standalone releases for DLC/expansions... and that's without me forgetting anything. I dare say no other entertainment industry has as much blatant flogging of the same stuff (let's call a spade a spade and say at heart for example Arkham City on PS3/Xbox 360 then the GOTY editions then the Wii U port and now its inclusion in the Return To Arkham are the same or at least have the same main draw which is Arkham City) and that is because this stuff works. It works brilliantly and you're just wrong if you're arguing otherwise, there's not a company worth talking about that has only released a beloved game once and that was that and they ended their support of that game as it was.
Now this is not to say these things are foolproof or are guaranteed to work on the Switch but if porting to it is as painless as has been rumoured then I don't see why people are worried about the performance of the Wii U 'enhanced ports' or games like Skyrim Remastered or Dark Souls 3. As I already said it's stupid to think they'll sell as well as they did on PS4 but as the concept of re-releases is as standardised as it is we should expect them to perform adequately.
At least not like the infamous Wii U ports which were token efforts at best most of the time and offered nothing beyond playing Mass Effect 3 on the loo on an SD screen when a trilogy of the series was available on other systems at the same price. With the Switch we'll get to play Mass Effect Andromeda on the bus on a HD screen!
But seriously let's not kid ourselves and say that Skyrim of all games is beyond caring about because it originally released 5/6 years ago.
Again, I completely see what you are saying, but my argument is not "just wrong." You are grossly simplifying what I'm saying.
You only need to look at the Wii U ports!
The truth of the matter is, as always, the middle ground: remasters and ports do not ALWAYS sell well OR sell badly. It depends on the game, the quality of the port, the added features (if any), etc.
@MarcelRguez That's true to a degree but when Bethesda says that they likely won't be porting Prey to the Nintendo Switch due to not being powerful enough, then you can start to make judgements on what exactly this thing can and cannot achieve in terms of power.

So I've been out of the loop for a very long time. I'm now deciding to join back in the discussion because we're getting into the best stages for hype and speculation, which is what I'm all about. (Also, analyzing the crap out of massive posts.)
Since I've been so far out of the loop, and since I'm sure there's no way you guys let something like this fly by without at least a comment, what is the general opinion on the Real Geno leak? You know, the massive one supposedly from a marketing person in France that explains a ton of stuff on the Switch and Nintendo's plan for the upcoming year-or-so? Is there a discussion on that I just didn't see or did we bring it up and go "it sounds too good to be true, so it probably is," which is, of course, a fair stance to take on it.
If the switch has Gameboy Advance virtual console, would there be anything stopping the games having multiplayer, something lacking from the Wii U versions?
I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.
@UGXwolf
I too have been away as it was getting boring, and I started a new job, but now it's hotting up a bit, I just read the Geno leak and it's interesting.
I think there is a lot of info there and I'm sure some of it is right, he too has confirmed resident evil 7 like OBE1, so that seems a given.
He mentioned all the plans for advertising during major events which too seems obvious, as does advertising through the Apple store due to the fact Nintendo are releasing games there first.
It's all very convincing but if I asked you to sit down for a day and make a list of all the things Nintendo might do for Switch, yours or most people's list would be very similar
Well, I hope what Laura says about it being a launch title in North America is true. Mario would be great too, but you honestly couldn't ask for a better launch title than BoTW. Even non-Nintendo fans are hyped for that game.
I might have to reconsider not pre-ordering the Switch if this is true.
I think at this point it's clear that rumours have gone out of control and even the so-called insiders are having trouble discerning the truth from fiction.
I don't doubt that a good amount of what we have heard will have a foundation of truth but there will be yet to be leaked info that will be announced in the presentation.
Drawing conclusions as to the launch lineup, specs or price is I feel pointless for the next 11 days.
@IceClimbers
About mother 3..
Is it one of those old RPG that was great at the time but probably hasn't aged well?
I've not played it obviously and just checked it out on YouTube and I'm a bit gutted, I'm sure when I owned a SNES I would of loved it, if it was in English (I tried JPRG but never got on with them).
I'm just getting the feeling this will be one of those things people say they want but don't buy, or buy and are disappointed as they don't understand it.
On a side note, if this Mother 3 rumor is correct, then I'm gonna take a guess and say that the Switch VC will start off with GameCube and GBA games, with the other platforms to come later.
Do you guys think Nintendo will acknowledge Wii U owners in any way with the Switch, like giving a discount on the Switch hardware, discounts on Wii U ports, etc.? I'm not saying Nintendo should or shouldn't do so, I was just wondering what you guys think of the possibility. Nintendo doesn't seem like the company to do stuff like that, but with the cold shoulder they've given the Wii U this past year it might be possible to some extent.
