@WoomyNNYes Just to be clear I think it's great you are willing to answer questions, I was just trying to point out perhaps an update on multi-Switch households since there are a couple common cases where they work extremely well (something which wasn't nearly as true in the early Switch days). I ended up looking at the Wulf video and there is one situation which it points out which is valid which I hadn't considered. So there are actually several cases:
1. 2 Switch household with multiple people:
Very convenient if
games are digital
One dedicated person plays second Switch connected to internet (so in-home only)
everyone else shares first Switch.
positive: Only need to buy one copy of each game
positive: can each play on your own account
If games aren't digital, need to share cartridges so can't play same game at same time unless you buy multiple. Same if no Internet access.
If want online play, may need family NSO so everyone can play on their own accounts.
2. 3+ Switch households. Can set up previous method with 2 Switches but third Switch pretty much needs to share physical cartridges or else buy their own games digitally.
3. 2 Switches used by one person:
convenient if only swap occasionally (e.g. traveling) and have NSO cloud backup. So for example take a Switch lite as you travel even if you normally use the family (docked) Switch. This works well.
inconvenient if you want to swap constantly between 2 Switches because save files will become a mess if you aren't careful... not sure why someone would want to do this.
Thank you for your help, @JaxonH. I went ahead and wiped my OLED, and transferred my user data from my original Switch to my Switch OLED. Everything's all fine and dandy, my friend code and friend list are all intact, along with the play activity for my 20 most recent games. I think everything worked, plus on my original Switch, I made it so that I would manually back up my save data (just in case my games crash and screws up my save data). After I did the user transfer, that setting was left intact. I was playing Metroid Prime Remastered, and still needed to manually back up my save data. So that's good. I also went ahead and started downloading the update data and DLC for all my physical games, and I also downloaded Animal Crossing: New Horizons and its island transfer tool.
I did notice something though. When I was checking my save data after the transfer, I saw things that were called "???" - I'm guessing that's the DLC that I bought, or something? I'm sure that's not too bad if that's the case. Once again, thank you so much for your help! I hope you're having a wonderful day.
That Prince of Persia game's really good, huh? I've not played any of the games in the series, but I do like a good Metroidvania.

Favorite game: Super Mario 3D World
AKA MarioVillager92. Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I want to get to know you first. Thanks! ❤️
@MarioLover92
Its absolute fire. 3 million+ Switch gamers bought Metroid Dread. I'm astounded Prince of Persia hasn't managed to do 1m across all platforms, much less Switch, because honestly it's the better game. And I don't say that lightly. Ppl here know I love my Metroid. Dread is still incredible, don't get me wrong. But Lost Crown is the best 2D metroidvania I've ever played. The platforming and combat is just so fun and addictive. On top of having amazing exploration and bosses and all that. Secrets and puzzles that reward more than your umpteenth missile tank expansion. If you're a Metroid fan, you will love this game to death.
Btw that Prime Remaster is so good. Prime 2 is my fave so I'm anxiously awaiting that. I do have the Trilogy on Steamdeck OLED, with dual analog gyro aiming like the remaster and HD texture packs. But I want them on Switch. This is just a hold me over til that day comes.
The Ori games are also must owns. Blind Forest and Will of the Wisps.

@JaxonH I'll 100% be buying PoP when it drops in price a bit, or it becomes available on Steam to play on deck. It loks amazing, and I genuinely look forward to playing.
In terms of sales, those numbers for Dread are really strong - especially considering it is single-platform, and still a 'kind of' niche IP for the average Switch owner (can't match the pull of Mario/Zelda).
I suppose Dread may have also had a small boost from launching alongside the OLED if I recall correctly?
Give PoP some time, I really think that the forthcoming sale (as if usually the case with Ubi games) will see it boom as the year goes on. PoP is also unlucky in that Q1 this year is stacked with big releases (especially PS/XB) and perhaps people are saving cash for the likes of Tekken, FF Rebirth, Dragons Dogma 2 etc
@MarioLover92

I mean... Dread sold over 2 million copies in the first 3 months which included the holiday season.
Prince of Persia came out at a weird time of year (game sales in January are lower than in October and massively lower than November and December) and it has only been two weeks so far.
@FishyS
Ya, but even so, it failed to even crack top 15 on eShop during its 2 weeks post launch. That's usually not a good sign. At least, PS/Xbox gamers typically buy front loaded. Switch gamers the only hope of long term sales now.
@CJD87
I got it running on Deck. I broke my rule and bought it from EGS, something I vowed to never do. But such is how strongly I feel about the game. Had to install EGS launcher, and Ubisoft Connect, and Heroic launcher, and do it in this weird way installing the executable as a non steam game and running it, then changing path to the real exe after installed, took hours.
After all that I realized it looks and runs identical on Deck OLED on the highest settings as it does Switch OLED. Tried pushing 90fps but it could barely do 60. But that's OK. It wasn't about the visuals or performance. I just wanted it for posterity. And with Ubisoft giving us optional server cloud saves I copied my 83% run from Switch over. Love that.
I wasn't expecting much from the PS/Xbox crowd anyways. Even if there wasn't other games, they just typically don't show much interest and snub their nose at "Hollow Knight is $20, so any 2D game more is overpriced" completely failing to recognize the difference in indie and AAA production values for a 2D metroidvania. "It doesn't look lik3 Gears 5". Ya, no kidding. It also doesn't look like Hollow Knight. This is about as good as a 2D game can look, honestly. Ironic how the ones so quick to say, "production values matter to me" fail to acknowledge the massive gap in production value of indies like Hollow Knight and AAA 2D like Metroid Dread and Prince of Persia.
Nintendo gamers were always the core audience for this. And unlike Immortals Fenyx Rising (which is also an incredible game btw), this one runs and looks top-shelf on Switch. No low res portable mode cutbacks or any of that. Its literally on par with Dread for framerate, resolution and graphical fidelity.
And being Switch's final year where the releases are kinda slowing down, with remasters and remakes filling in the final stretch, I really expected Switch gamers to flock to this gem.

@JaxonH PoP is an Ubisoft game so it shouldn't be surprising that uptake is slow. When your pricing strategy is heavy discount soon after launch, a load of people interested in the game will wait for that heavy discount.
@JaxonH That's cool you managed to get it running on the Deck, albeit it sounds like you're deserving of some kind of award considering the great lengths you went to!
PoP is 100% a buy for me this year, I've only held off so far due to Ubi's notorious reputation of putting their new releases on sale within months of release..... This game might have even been a 'Day 1' for me, but I've just had too much other stuff keeping me busy (hello there Baldurs..)
I actually checked the sales split reported by NL during the earlier part of this week - PS5 47%, Switch 42%, Xbox Series 7%, PS4 4%. Of course this only accounts for physical sales, but I was amazed that the PS crowd showed up as hard as they did, with >50% physical sales being on Sony's units.
I'll back you on Immortals, this was one of my pandemic games. I played exclusively on Switch... not perfect by any stretch, but an incredibly playable port nonetheless IMO. Shame that Assassins Creed will likely remain the largest cash-cow in Ubi's portfolio, as it would be great to see them knock out more titles like PoP and/or Immortals.
I'm definitely a "gameplay over graphics" player... some of the best gaming experiences of the last few years have been games without AAA production values. Inscryption, Hades, Spire, Dead Cells, Monkey Island, Dread have all been fairly 'modest' in terms of pushing hardware. Saying that though, I have absolutely loved the likes of Returnal, Elden Ring, TOTK etc. Nice to have a mix I guess
@Grumblevolcano
That's fair. Price integrity is very real, and despite complaints from Nintendo fans for prices never dropping (heck, just look at Switch system itself- we're about to head into Year 8, and the console still hasn't seen an official price drop lol. Can it actually surpass PS2 selling at launch MSRP the entire time without any price drops?!!).
Ubisoft represents the other side of that coin. If Nintendo is the poster child for maintaining price integrity, Ubisoft is the poster child for utter destruction of price integrity. Still, I've found strong correlation between launch sales and overall sales. Immortals Fenyx Rising, for example, didn't suddenly start selling like crazy once price dropped. Only game that did is Mario Rabbids, a game which features Nintendo IP.

I eventually bought on Steamdeck thinking Switch would never be localized. You'd think I never learn, but I finally have.
That's why all these other games, I'm waiting for Switch 2 releases. Reliable leaker says Persona 3 Reload and Metaphor Fantazio is coming to Switch 2? OK noted. Marked off my Steam wishlist, I'll wait for Switch 2.
Dragon's Dogma 2? First came to Switch, pretty sure sequel will come to Switch 2. Also marked off my wishlist.
Final Fantasy VII remakes? Ya, those are likely gonna end up on Switch 2. I'll wait.
No more double dipping for me. I've got plenty games to play

The only games I’d like to play currently that aren’t on the Switch are the Yakuza games, but didn’t the developer snub this platform saying it was for kids? Hopefully he’ll change his mind about that when the Switch 2 releases 😆
I bought it on Deck (and I have on Gamepass, which I almost forget I have since I just don't use my PS5/XSX anymore), but Idk, something about it just makes me feel like I wouldn't enjoy it.
Started Splatoon 3 again and this single player campaign is straight gas. I love Splatoon campaign modes. This one had a cool upgrade tree though, with skill slots you can unlock for Ink Saver or more shots per second or a new sub-weapon like splash bombs or curling bombs.
And Salmon Run... it never gets old.

@JaxonH Aww man, I forgot about the possibility that Dragon’s Dogma 2 could go to a Switch successor.

@JaxonH can't remember if you mentioned this or not, but having the deck and gamepass, did you try Hi Fi? I think i recall you saying you tried it, or were going to.
Either way, if you have the ability to play it, I can almost guarantee it's a game you'll be into knowing the games you tend to gravitate towards. It was my favorite game on xbox last year, hands down. It only sat behind TotK, Sea of Stars, and Mario Wonder.
Unless you want to hold out hope for the rumored switch port. Personally, with it being a 10hr experience, just bang it out on your deck if you have the time. It's an experience unlike any other. Reminds me of a nintendo product.
"Never say never" is exactly the sort of response a smart person should say, even if they know there's zero chance of a port happening. It dodges the question but gets people speculating that it sounds like something's in the works. Result = free promotion for your IP.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
