Oh, and I forgot all about South Park The Stick of Truth and Trials Rising, although Trials releases in Feb I think. Still, South Park has been totally neglected in the preorder planning.
Just slate it for 2019. We need to start thinking about the first half of next year. With No More Heroes in January, they should give us New Super Mario Bros U + New Super Luigi U in February, with Daemon X Machina in March, Yoshi in April and Fire Emblem Three Houses in May.
Toss in a surprise port to double up in one of those months, like Xenoblade X, Wonderful 101 or Pikmin 3, and a few 3rd party releases like Dragon Quest Builders 2, and we're all set for first half of 2019. And a virtually open slate for second half, which would have to be all new announcements, or games drawn from the hype pool of Metroid Prime 4, Bayonetta 3, Dragon Quest XI or Shin Megami Tensei V. Either way it's a win.

@JaxonH Even for 2019 I don't know where I'll pull time out of my ass to play my backlog and the new games that I NEED to play like Daemon X Machina and Devil May Cry 5.
Metroid, Xenoblade, EarthBound shill
I run a YouTube/Twitch channel for fun. Check me out if you want to!
Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.
@EvilLucario Nah, I'd want them to announce lots of stuff because I'm fed up of Smash Ultimate being the only thing I hear from them. Not announcing new games would pretty much mean the Direct would be:
@Grumblevolcano I mean it IS dumb to not announce new games. But personally speaking I don't need any more cool games to buy because I'm coming dangerously close to overexerting my wallet.

@EvilLucario My Switch backlog is enough to probably last me until summer/fall 2019 and that's not even counting a probable NG+ run of XC2 after completing Torna but the Smash focus is getting well beyond annoying at this point.
@JaxonH Unless things have changed since E3 (which is possible, delays happen), Fire Emblem is releasing in March. All games in that presentation were supposed to release within 9 months. I'd wager Daemon X Machina is February, Travis Strikes Again we know is January, so anything revealed now would either double up or be in April or later.

@EvilLucario inb4 "Nintendo saying the Direct is delayed due to an earthquake that didn't even affect them is Sakurai teasing that the Quake Marine is coming to Smash!!1!"
Well I was meaning about Yoshi being next year's Kirby Star Allies in the sense of being an early Spring platformer.
I see something like this happening for the first half of 2019 regarding Nintendo system exclusives:
January - Travis Strikes Again
February - Wii U port, Daemon X Machina
March - Yoshi, Labo Toy-Con 04
April - Wii U port
May - Fire Emblem Three Houses
June - Unannounced new game (maybe Pikmin 4?), Wii U port
Of course you'll have 3rd party multiplatform games and indie games in addition to these.
@JaxonH How could dataminers find something that Nintendo only decided this morning? I call foul! (But it could be accurate anyway just because it's logical.)
@JaxonH@NEStalgia What are the dataminers mining to find this information? It's not like it's something they can find on the Switch or anything? Can it?

Well, a delay of the Splatoon 2 content that was meant to hit tomorrow means that content has to come after the Direct so it still remains a surprise until announced. As such, date of the Splatoon update equals a near estimate of the Direct date.
