I defend Xenoblade X on multiple areas, but not the story and characters. I don't really like any Xenoblade X playable character except for Nagi. I don't hate them either though, but I always found everyone else a bit dry. Although I do defend the story in that the sidequests are really good, even if the main story is undercooked.
That is partly because Xenoblade X is like a tech demo, just like BotW, but the story and characters aren't why I like Xenoblade X.
Elma would make for a cool fighter though. There is a lot you can come up with. Plus, Sakurai loves Xenoblade as a game series, so I'm holding out for some form of Xenoblade representation.
@MisterPi The constant Smash focus is exactly why I think it'll be a spotlight title tomorrow. We didn't need the August Direct, E3's focus could've been reduced but both happened.
@Grumblevolcano Don't Nintendo normally announce a game as a Spotlight title beforehand? I wouldn't be surprised if they have a reveal for Smash Bros but then save the rest of the meaty details for another focused Direct nearer the time.

@FragRed Only sometimes, for example last September Nintendo announced Odyssey as a spotlight before the Direct but we also got spotlights for Xenoblade 2 and Octopath.
I'm gonna have to wake up every morning and decide whether it's gonna be a Monster Hunter day, or a Valkyria Chronicles day. Monster Hunter? Or Valkyria Chronicles? So I say screw that Nintendo Direct. I don't need anymore stress in my life.
And what about when Mega Man 11, Valkyria Chronicles 1, Dark Souls, The World Ends With You, Starfoxlink, Xenoblade 2 Torna, My Hero Ones Justice, Disgaea 1, Undertale and Dragonball Fighter Z all release within a few weeks after...? Then what?
Look. Idk how to say this, but.... I'm gonna need to conveniently contract an illness.
edit
Btw, I saw the special edition for YS VIII on Switch has a few copies remaining- on the stock meter of 0% to 100%, it's at 0%, so it could be anywhere from 5 copies left to several hundred- either way it's about to be sold out forever and I thought I'd just plug a link for anyone who might be interested, since it is in my opinion one of the absolute best JRPG's of the generation, even up there with Xenoblade 2 (I wouldn't say it's better than XC2, but it is in the same league).

Yes. Overwhelmed is putting it lightly. I want to just keep playing Monster Hunter indefinitely, but I know I'll have to space it out and come back to it here and there over the coming years. Because there are just so many excellent games coming that I truly want to play. Everything I mentioned is a game I have pre-ordered. That's not to say all of them are games that I would drop MH for, but some are. Not drop permanently but drop temporarily.
Valkyria Chronicles 4 is definitely one of those games, as is Valkyria Chronicles 1. No exceptions, those games get some play day one. Mega Man 11... that's another one. No exceptions- I''ve been waiting on this game half my life. Nothing will stand in between me and a new modern Mega Man. Dark Souls is also a day one. My brother is binging on MHGU right now, thanks to me getting him into the series with World. As a condition I promised I would play Dark Souls on Switch, and let him help me. He's not gonna let me off the hook for that one.
The World Ends With You is also non-negotiable. My brother has been telling me for 5+ years that it's one of the best RPG's he ever played. So I cannot and will not shelf that game into backlog. I can't do it. And Xenoblade 2 is another non-negotiable release. I beat the game, I'm all over this Torna expansion.
That's a lot of games that all demand play the day of release and a whole bunch of other games that I will make an earnest effort to play when they release... and I just don't see how all the puzzle pieces are going to fit. To add to that, I also wanted to give 3 games on other consoles a go- Spider-Man, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Red Dead Redemption 2 (Dragon Quest XI can wait seeing as it's coming to Switch thank goodness, since I wouldn't have had time to play it anyways)

Oh, and I forgot all about South Park The Stick of Truth and Trials Rising, although Trials releases in Feb I think. Still, South Park has been totally neglected in the preorder planning.
Just slate it for 2019. We need to start thinking about the first half of next year. With No More Heroes in January, they should give us New Super Mario Bros U + New Super Luigi U in February, with Daemon X Machina in March, Yoshi in April and Fire Emblem Three Houses in May.
Toss in a surprise port to double up in one of those months, like Xenoblade X, Wonderful 101 or Pikmin 3, and a few 3rd party releases like Dragon Quest Builders 2, and we're all set for first half of 2019. And a virtually open slate for second half, which would have to be all new announcements, or games drawn from the hype pool of Metroid Prime 4, Bayonetta 3, Dragon Quest XI or Shin Megami Tensei V. Either way it's a win.

@JaxonH Even for 2019 I don't know where I'll pull time out of my ass to play my backlog and the new games that I NEED to play like Daemon X Machina and Devil May Cry 5.

Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.
@EvilLucario Nah, I'd want them to announce lots of stuff because I'm fed up of Smash Ultimate being the only thing I hear from them. Not announcing new games would pretty much mean the Direct would be:
@Grumblevolcano I mean it IS dumb to not announce new games. But personally speaking I don't need any more cool games to buy because I'm coming dangerously close to overexerting my wallet.

@EvilLucario My Switch backlog is enough to probably last me until summer/fall 2019 and that's not even counting a probable NG+ run of XC2 after completing Torna but the Smash focus is getting well beyond annoying at this point.
@JaxonH Unless things have changed since E3 (which is possible, delays happen), Fire Emblem is releasing in March. All games in that presentation were supposed to release within 9 months. I'd wager Daemon X Machina is February, Travis Strikes Again we know is January, so anything revealed now would either double up or be in April or later.
