@JaxonH
"Most people will buy, say, 2-3 games a week. And a lot of people don't even do that."
Well, not all peoples spent their money for 2 - 3 games in one week.
Depend on their budget and their needs, sometimes they can spend their money for a lot of games, sometimes not at all.
Me, myself still have to save my money for other important things, not just for games only.
I just wonder, what job do you take ?
How much money you get for each month ?
Looks like you can easily buy this or that games whenever you want.
On another note while you guys are talking about indie, Yonder is coming to Switch. Hmmm, kind of tempted to give it a try on Switch but I'm not sure.
It does looks great though, maybe I should watch some let's play to be sure.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE And it's not another of 2D, pixelated, sidescrolling, platformer you are ticking off ( o-o)
That looks kind of interesting! And I'm like SLIGEACH_EIRE here in that I see most Indies and they're just 2D pixelated stuff that looks like it belongs on the NES or SNES and it's an instant turn-off for me. This game and My Time At Portia look interesting to me.
For the record Nintendo could start releasing VC and release nonsense that I've already played and owned ten times over like SMB, ALTTP, etc. and my eyes would still be on these Indies.
@RunninBlue If you like choose your own adventure books this game is right for you. If you can get the past the long loading screen when you launch the game and the weird controls(especially during fights),i would recommend it.
Sweet. Yeah, I like the concept of it, haven’t read a Choose Your Own Adventure in a long time though. Thanks.
The thing with these smaller indie games is, you have to separate the wheat from the chaff. There's so much rubbish that's it's very easy to label the whole bunch as rubbish. Yeah, there are a lot of 8/16-bit inspired pixel platformers, and likewise there are a lot of mediocre 3D Journey/Zelda/Ico inspired ''adventure'' games. But once in a while you get something good like Fez or Hyper Light Drifter. I find it difficult to like the over-ambitious 3D games made by small teams. When I do, I gravitate towards the bigger budget stuff, those seem to be more polished and unique, like Firewatch or The Witness.
I’d bet that a sizeable percentage of console owners - as in 25% up - never buy a single eshop game. On a console like 3DS maybe 50% never even opened the eshop app.
I’ve definitely substituted a VC in for an indie purchase in the past. Why but a game that advertises it wants to be like Super Metroid when you can buy Super Metroid? It’s like having the Godfather duology (they only made 2) on Blu Ray and deciding to watch 5 hours of Eastenders instead.
In general Nintendo has more of an issue competing with indies because their 8 & 16 bit back catalogue is so but stronger but also because so many indie games are homages to Nintendo’s own games (but usually lacking a true understanding of why they were great to begin with and without the same level of budget or polish).
Does it really matter? Fill in the blank with whatever you want.
When you read those weekly charts on N-Life you see multiple games being picked every week by people. I don't think two games a week is excessive. Especially when they're smaller titles.
But if a person buys less that just goes even more to the point. They're going to be even less likely to crank up the spending knob buy a game or two a week. Much more likely to just swap places with what they're spending on.

Bayonetta 2 placed at #3 and at #5 in the UK Individual and All Formats Charts respectively. I guarantee I won't have to send reminders on Wednesday that the site still hasn't posted the charts. That's a great debut. There's a few things to take into consideration though. It was the only notable new entry besides Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Also, FIFA 18 prevented it from debuting one place higher because the game is on sale at less than half price. The game took top spot in the All Formats chart helped by the Switch version that reappeared for the first time since its debut to sit at the lofty position of #9 in the Individual Charts.
I don't get why it was announced at the Switch event last year with it just starting development now. Wouldn't it have made more sense to put the announcement into a Spring 2018 Direct instead?
@Grumblevolcano I don't know why they produced such an elaborate teaser trailer for the game if they hadn't started work until now. I assumed it was much further along than it obviously is, which makes me question when this game is actually going to come out.

@FragRed I'm thinking 2020 at this point. Like I suggested in the Nintendo Life article comments section, this would be the perfect opportunity to port over Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE (it seems to be the most liked comment).
@Shellcore I think I buy a game every month at most. Considering the average consumer doesn't buy more than 10 games per console, that means that for every me, there are three people that only buy one or two games in total per console.
I think you have too much faith in people if you think they budget their spending habits and care about subtracting sub $10 games from it. There is a good reason why households have increased their debts the last 20 years.
